The Shield is completely amazing and is by far my favorite cop show. Leon's too.

I got rid of cable about six months ago.

The Shield is pretty much the only show I miss.

This is my favorite show on television. No they have definitely not run out of ideas. Personally, season 3 and 4 weren't my favorite but thats because 1 and 2 had set my expectations so high there was no way they could top themselves. With that said, those seasons are still better than 90% of the shit out on tv now.

Now season 5 has got to be the absolute best season of television I have seen in a very very long time, I like those episodes more than any in 1 or 2, excluding Dragonchasers. Forrest Whitaker is the guest star that season and he was amazing, I'm not going to give anything away and I'm not sure how much you're willing to spend but if you are willing, then buy season 3 and 4 if only for the fact that they build up to season 5.

I really enjoy shows that have an ending they are building to, I get really bored watching a show that goes on and on with no sense of end in sight. Season 5 is when you realize that they're taking it somewhere and it's not just "oh whats the strike team going to do this week?" Season 6 is also fantastic and it builds so nicely to the 7th and final season which starts in September.

Just watch it all I am not articulate enough to express how good the show is. I used to be a big Rescue Me fan as well, but after a while I lost interest in it but the Shield still has me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happens next.

If you like the shield I would recommend the wire and the sopranos(and what I do is buy complete series and after I watch them I sell them on ebay,just a suggestion).

I've never heard of The Wire.. I'll have to check it out.

I used to watch Sapranos, but then I lost track while they were going through some strange stage in which the characters seemed to be going through dreams a lot.

I don't have a credit card, thus no Ebay account.

Vic Mackey is in my new Pantheon of tv gods. There are only 3 so far. He has joined Jack Bauer and Denny Crane. I'm only halfway through season 2 and I just can't seem to find a real reaason to dislike this guy.

I like the Shield but I hate that it on FX. Because FX try to act like it HBO and let us wait like a year and half between seasons on shows on that network.
