A Cowboy Bebop Live Action In The Works

Original Blog Post

Film producer Erwin Stoff, the man behind the first Matrix and A Scanner Darkly has recently snagged himself a deal with Sunrise and Fox to make a live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. The now world-famous anime series, popular even among non-anime fans follows Spike Spiegel and his rag-tag group of bounty hunters to sail the solar system just to make a few bucks on the table.

Stoff promises a "real degree of faithfulness," and added "When I met with them in Japan, one of the first things that I brought up was the experience that we had on A Scanner Darkly, and how hard we worked to remain faithful to Philip K. Dick, and that was our big concern here.”

While many people like to use the Matrix trilogy against this guy...ya'll need to see that he helmed just the first one as producer. And concerning A Scanner Darkly...well, personally...I LOVED the hell out of that movie! So, while a lot of people may be sketchy with this recent trend, I personally beolieve Stoff is someone who isn't too unreliable.

Erwin Stoff is Keanu Reeves' agent... you do realize that Spike will more than likely be Keanu right?

Well maybe since the movie is rated R the movie should be too.. WHO KNOWS

Kent. I am sitting here, looking at my DVD box of Cowboy Bebop the Movie...and it's got a big fat "R" on it. From what I recall...the only inclusions that merit that rating that weren't in the series originally was that they said the word "shit" twice...

The TV series, on the other hand has a "13+Up" rating. If two inclusions of "shit" made the movie an R...it's not completely out of it.

Besides. The movie was sure as hell on the same vibe... I don't see that ratings have any effect on the source material.

Let's hope Erwin Stoff dies in a fiery plane-crash and takes his movie plans with him....

American audiences don't want to see anime movies, how many times must their films bomb before they see this.

You're acting like they're out there in the same numbers as comic books. How many have really hit the big screen? Speed Racer aaaaaaaand what else?

Oh and Speed Racer killed over seas.

Also Cowboy Bebop is one of the most highly regarded animes ever made. 10 years and it's still going strong.
