Well, I just watched your Evil Dead 2 review...and I have to say I strongly disagree with you.

1.The movie was not upscaled(upconverted), it was shot on film(16mm IIRC). Just because a movie isn't brand spanking new, does not mean it was shot in SD. Almost all films dating all the way back to Casablanca have been shot on 35mm film, so they could cull much higher definition transfers from them than 1080p.

2. The transfer used for the Evil Dead blu-ray is a disaster. It's the same one used by anchor bay for their recent Book of the Dead edition DVD, and was massacred by DNR. So much fine detail as been robbed from the image, that the THX DVD from 1999 has more fine detail than the Blu-ray.

It looked good on my TV.

It could be a worse model of HD television. Or the brand of a component cable or HDMI cable you use. I use top of the line stuff, so it could change with what cable and television brands you use.

Oops, I messed up when I posted. The bottom shot is from the Book of the Dead DVD version.

But as for you saying it could be a problem with my setup, I watched both on the same tv, with the same HDMI cables(both monoprice) and ran through the same receiver and the PS3 playing both of them.
