There have been no great war movies in years, bold statement but to me it's true, Clint Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers and Letter's from Ewo Jima were good but nothing has even came close to topping Saving Private Ryan, remember what it was like to see the first scene's of Saving Private Ryan? wouldnt it be great to see something like that again instead of superhero movie's and shitty rom com's? is anyone else craving another epic war movie?
That was one of the cheesiest trailers I've seen. "A time of love . . . " "A time of war . . ." How many times have I heard that already? Saving Private Ryan was something new at the time. It changed how such films were made. That trailer is of a film that came 10 years too late. Besides, it was more of a love story.
Since the Iraq War is still happening overseas, war films are just harder to market right now. There won't be any urge for anyone to make a reputable war film in awhile.
Alot of people want to watch war movie's, watching short disorientating firefights on the news or playing a war game every so often doesn't quite cut it for me.
