Hi Phil,
you do realise you've put a plot spoiler in there right?
Re inventing a franchise & in the hope to grab a whole new audience is a great way to go. If you look at the James Bond books vs the movies, Timothy Dalton was the most accurate to the book, & Daniel Craig is even more accurate. Sean Connery did what he tends to do, & made the character his. With such a good result, Roger Moore kept the flavour of being a womans man & not a burnt womaniser. As a side note, Roger Moore's bond was the most sexist. That's not an opinion-its fact, if you look at how woman were treated in his Bond series, you'll see alot of forced sexual advances instead of seduction. He was the Bond that I grew up with so as a kid I thought he was the best, but looking back at them, I prefer Daniel Craigs version.
As for the return of super villains? well, I really dont think it works for todays audience. Plus Dominic Green's attempt for world domination was a real threat. Only 2% of the worlds water is drinkable, & with global warming threatening this percentage, it is a viable plan-but I agree it's "Threat" or relation to the world was not underlined enough.
Good effort for a review, & please be sure to advise of any spoilers for those who watch reviews to see if its worth their money to see.
