The plot of Kick-Ass concerns a lonely teenage boy, Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), who decides to become a real-life superhero after being inspired by the heroes of comic-books. He soon encounters a mysterious vigilante called Big-Daddy (Nicolas Cage), and his daughter Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz), who are working to bring down the drug baron, Frank D'Amico. The rights to a film version of the comic book were sold before the first issue was published. When the film is released there will be less than twelve issues of the comic in print.
The script for the film was reportedly written in May 2008, and filming occurred in late 2008 to early 2009. In an interview with Total Film, Aaron Johnson confirmed that the film will stay true to the adult nature of the comic series by featuring a large amount of profanity and graphic violence and that it had already received an R rating by the MPAA.[1] Yancy Butler (of the television series Witchblade) also appears as Angie D'Amico, Frank's wife and the mother to the Red Mist. This is her first theatrical film since Drop Zone (1994).
Filming locations include Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. It was announced on 8/17/09 that the film is going to be released by Lionsgate[2] on April 16, 2010. [3]
