I saw this after listening to your review and wow was I let down.  Better than Sex?  Really?  The film was good, but it wasn't great.  I didn't really like Andrew at all.  I get that he has a fucked up life but his friends did nothing to piss him off to that extent.  It just felt rushed and made me want to see him die.  He just kept whining and whining for the last 20 minutes and it dragged.  I'd say this is a high rental low matinee.

I saw this at the midnight showing, and enjoyed the hell out of it. I thought it was the best live action version of Akira that we're ever going to get. Also, didn't know blue kryptonite effected humans.

So this the director who is up for the Reboot of Fantastic Four huh?  I am now intrigued.

Saw it tonight, really enjoyed it, a great film told from the sympathetic "villians" point of view.  It has been a weekend of films done by the offpring of 80's greats.  Last night I saw Young Adult, which was good but not great, and tonight Chronicle which was great.  I might make it a trifecta and watch Lost in Translation lol

As for the film itself, definitely a high full price. While the female blogger definitely lacked character, I actually was never bothered with her. One of the things that bugged me most was the effects. There were a lot of great effect shots here, but every so often there would be those highlighted moments where the effects looked badly rendered (those legos hovering in the air looked SO fake!). If it was not for how great the other effects looked in the film, I would not have minded.

Everything else, however, is top notch. The characters are likable even with their various faults. The dialogue always felt appropriate for a teenager to say. The directing was focused and stylized. The technical work on a whole was impressive.

Best of all, the story was just fascinating because it actually created a feeling of fascination. So many superhero films try to create awe and wonder, but fail because the characters do not act amazed. Here, you feel the sense of awe because the characters are in such awe at the spectacle of it all. There is little background information, yet at the same time you really do not need more than what they gave. The film is just as much a superhero story as it is a Blair Witch style documentary, a teen comedy, a dysfunctional family drama and an almost high school massacre style of tragedy (watch for a very particular scene that starts the third act to see if it does not make you think of a disturbed high school kid preparing to go on a killing spree). Perhaps those are extreme descriptions, but I just want to highlight how awesome this film was.

Tell your friends, family and even random people on the street to check this out. It needs word of mouth to be even bigger of a hit.

While I really enjoy the audio review of this, I feel this video review was very lackluster. I do not want to be harsh, but I just want to make my point.

Something that bugged me a ton here was the way it was edited. Because you guys were having so much fun in the audio review, hearing the best bits edited together out of context feels like you are trying to talk over each other and it makes the video seem sloppy. You tried to cram all of the comedic moments from the review and while they were funny, it felt rushed like it was lacking substance. There was a serious lack of balance between the comedy and analytical elements, especially because you made some great analytical comments in the audio. If I had not already seen the film, this review would have told me little about WHY the film was good other than some fleeting specific praises and just the fact you guys liked it.

Again, I do not want to be harsh, but I just felt this missed out on being a great video review like the ones for Harry Potter 7 Part 2 or Mission: Impossible 4. It is also because I loved this movie so much that I was hoping for a fun video review to back it up.

This is a high full price for me as well. This was much better that I thought it would be. Too bad I had to see it in a theater full of troglodytes.
