The idea behind is the avoid the biggest problem Sony had with the PS3: Too complicated of a system. The PS3 was a powerful system on technological terms, but its cell processor made it difficult for multi platform games to work well on it. Multi platform games have been mainly 360 games with the PS3 versions being just better ports than most. By having no backwards compatibility, Sony has eliminated this problem.

That's like wishing your DVD player played VHS tapes.

I think it is also so they can keep selling HD collections. Whats the point of them if all you have to do is putt in the original disk

Why are so many systems not wanting backwards compatibility with older games?! Oh Sony.

@Dr. Detfink

I'm sure people will still want to play Uncharted and some other Sony titles on the PS4. I'll still want to play Mass Effect and Halo on the next Xbox.

Meh. Don't know too many people requesting to play digdug on a new system. More concerned about Sony contract with amd vs nvidia. where they're going to make you pay more for it.

Hopefully Microsoft won't make the same mistake.
