The problem with MLP is that it's trying to teach kids something. It also knows that it has an older age group wathcing it. So why not put more quality and effort into it instead of throwing this bullshit in?

It's not like the facism, racism and castes where you have to read into it. This cutie-mark thing is very straight forward. Hey kid, talents and what's been forced upon you is everything. Don't think for yourself, shut up and conform you stupid little shits! Do whatever society has deemed you to do!

If this was like Transformers and Cartoon Cartoons (CN on Saturdays in the 90s-early 2000s) where it's all mindless junk food I would be fine with this show.

Guys, first of all this conversation was over sixteen hours ago and most people will agree I take things way too seriously that said; Transformers is about giant self aware robots with beards and gender disguised as simple everyday vehicles, it's nonsense. MLP is about sentient horses who don't need thumbs because most can move objects telekinetically, it's nonsense. Michael Bay's Transformers are terrible but the Transformers Animated and Prime TV shows are good. A show doesn't need a plausible premise to be good, it can be complete nonsense, but as long as that nonsense is well written and executed it will make for an entertaining show and that's exactly what MLP has been. For the record I also watch Game of Thrones and Mad Men, I just love well made shows.

Well hey, if the darker elements help keep the show fresh and interesting and give it a longer shelf life than it has any right to have, then why not.

It's this messed up subtext behind it. It's trying to portray itself as a shw that teaches kids life lessons, if it was just cartoon cartoons I'd be fine with it, yet it's got this very messed up subtext. No I need to talk about the racism and castes?

This recent episode has made the series go into something dark. The cutie marks are pretty much a means of indoctrinating the ponies into doing what they have been programmed to do. Becoming a complete mess without the proper one, losing all of their memories. Seriously, what the hell? Just replace cutie marks with implants in the brain and you've got some cyberpunk shit going on.
