i understood it, but i felt like he just went to jail because he was a bad person/alcoholic, which didnt really feel like a satisfying ending for me.

I got that he went to jail because he realized that his life is so screwed up that he'd be better off in jail than the way he was before. Haven't watched the film since I saw it in the theater but that's what I got.

I didnt get why he had to go to jail if they proved that the plane was already broken. also, that 'praise jesus' scene was ridiculously out of place lol

My only real problem with the movie is that they never suggest that because he was drunk, that's why he was able to fly the plane safely and save most of the passengers.
