...don't ya hate it when you don't notice your typo until way after the fact?

*But >>>not< everything...well nothing in her life is piecing together...
Forgot the not -___-

But yeah, no problemo. Like I said there's so much about this movie I loved, so anytime you want me to obsessively pontificate on and on about it, just let me know! xD

BOSTW in a nutshell is about Hushpuppy's personal apocalypse, the way she's interpreting it. The way she learned it from Miss Bathsheba from that "school" scene where the Aurochs were first brought up. Everything she's known in her life is starting to crumble and unravel; she's supposed to have a Momma (who abandoned/died on them), a Daddy (in Wink who is about to die), and they're all supposed to live happily in The Bathtub. All of that because "the universe depends on everything fitting together just right. If one piece busts, even the smallest piece, the entire universe gets busted."

But everything....well, nothing really, in her life is piecing together like it should. And the Aurouchs, seen plowing through old buildings with reckless abandon and eating their fellow Aurochs if they couldn't continue following the pack's path, are going to make her "breakfast" in this Dog Eat Dog world for screwing up the proper order; it's quite UNSUBTLE symbolism for the said chaos of the universe she's afraid of. However when they confront her at the end after everything she's been through (NO they aren't actually real, it's the imagination of these little girls), that's when Hushpuppy learms to embrace the chaos (with the line "You're my friends kind of") and not let the chaos tear her down. That it's not all her fault that "the universe is unraveling". That she doesn't have to carry the weight of the Perfect World Order on her shoulders to survive. That showing vulnerability doesn't make you a "pussy" unable to survive in the harshness of the world; it just makes you human. And it's that humanity that separates you from the animalistic Aurochs and gives you the unique chance to do whatever you want with your life.

She changes from worrying that she's going to destroy the grand scheme of the universe to realizing that she's just a small, yet unique piece of the universe she can add to the grand scheme.

I could go on all day about this movie, I adore the hell out of it....but hopefully the above cleared some things up :D

I agree with Cyrus, it really feels like if Miyazaki decided to try live action only it's not him and yet it's still great.

there are giant pigs that serve no purpose and dont do anything so its a fantasy movie i guess

I took it as a fantasy in a modern setting. I think Cyrus called it a live action Miyazaki movie

I only got half way through it, really uninteresting.
