I'm thirteen hours in, and the game's been awesome so far. The main story is meh, but it's always been a little out there. I'm lovin the side missions, journal entries, and voice recordings though.

This is true, but the last two Dead Space games only had a few characters in them, and the second game was on par with most horror film archetypes.
