Finally dove in. Got about 4 hours into Dark Souls and I have no idea how to sell items or if I'm even going the right way. Thanks Prof. Jef

best advice for fighting the black knights at the beggining: run away. If you stumble across them and aggro them, you most likely will die. Run backwards to a safer area when you do, so when you respawn you can avoid them. There are only 2, and both are easily avoidable. I came back after ringing the first bell and killed them after I had leveled up and upgraded some weapons.

Backstabbing goes a LONG way as well. My process with new enemies has been reduced to keeping my shield up and dodging until I figure out their attack patterns.

Well I know I'm supposed to ring two bells, I'm going for the one in the tower and hte last thing I killed was some giant armored boar lookin thing. I was promptly killed shortly after when I went exploring in some nearby hallways. Tall knight killed me. :(

If your only 4 hours in, I'd wager you're talking about the Black Knights? They can be a pain for beginners (they sure were for me), but the best advice I have for them is 1) have a shield that reduces physical damage by 100% (you can tell be checking a shield's stats and looking at the numbers near the blue symbols. The topmost one if physical defense) 2) lead them to an open area, as it just gives you more room to maneuver, and c) constantly circle around them till they attack, then backstab.

If your Talking about the Knight Giants In Anor Londo Circle around them till they try to bash you with their shield and then get a few attacks in. Rinse Repeat. Also one at a time.

lol Thanks for the help, I'll hopefully get the hang of what I gotta do. I'm still trying to figure out how to beat the big knight lookin bastards. Maybe I should find a DS thread?

You can sell items, just not right away. There's an NPC about a third of the way through the game that you can trade items for souls with

You can't sell items.

Congratulations, that's the way the game meant to be played!
