The bathtub people felt that they didn't need help. From their point of view, their way of life was just fine for them. Also, I suspect that in one point in time before Hushpuppy was born, they must have once pleaded for help from the government and the government did nothing so when they did final come around into helping them it's like "Oh, now you want help us."
Well, one of them are... I didn't completely get the confrontation between them and Hushpuppy. Did they represent something?
Another question is why did the Bathtub resident escape from the refugee center? The doctors were helping them
