Sounds insecure. He probably wanted to drop you before one of his buddies made a move. I can see how he'd think it be best losing a girlfriend as opposed to a girlfriend and one of his friends. However, this does not justify that by any means.
Also, I must disclose, that I am incognizant of the full situation. So don't go making any decisions on my Dr. Katz tomfoolery.
