Jose, no apology necessary. At the time you made that post Fungus had just got on you pretty hard over something kind of silly in the lounge, so you were just felling a little bit on the defensive and I got that. So while I didn't totally agree with it, I understood why you were saying it and it wasn't a really big deal to me. So you don't need to worry about that, but I do appreciate the sentiment.
I actually deleted my Facebook account about a year back.. Long story. I'm just not a big fan of Facebook, but I appreciate the offer. :-)
I know what you mean about the lounge, and Spill in general, but I think it's just part of the site growing. More people unfortunately means more opinionated jerks. I get along with both sol and D, and Fungus really isn't in the lounge that much anymore. I was actually surprised to see him pop up for that post he made today, and didn't really see the need for it. I read your post, and got where you were coming from. There wasn't any need to shove it down your throat like that, but all I can say is the internet is that last place I expect anyone to have anything even resembling tact, and am always surprised when I do see it. :-)
Jose, believe me, I know what you mean. Seems like the more people that join spill, the more there are people who come here to do nothing but argue about stupid shit like what Cat Woman looks like in a leaked photo, and then claim the whole film is doomed, but trust me, there are still chill folks around.
My advise would be to just watch them all flail about and get a chuckle out of it. I find it kind of hilarious how all these people on Spill now days are such experts in what will and wont work in films, while the real people in Hollywood are out there actually doing it. They're all certified experts from watching movies. Just makes me laugh. :-)
I got your message as I was running to get to work. I'm doing great, though I haven't had a lick of time to do much writing on movies. Thank goodness for G-Man & Woody89. Hopefully, human resource will give me my competency exam, cause I can't take a little vacation until the 3 month training period ends. This is why having one office do the hiring for the continuum which consists of 11 hospitals can get really tiring but my transfer form is through so no one can bump me from the position. Patience is a virtue. :)
Comic books right now are fantastic..maybe too many good one's because I read january sales were in decline. With midtown comics opening a third store downtown, don't tell me readership is down. At least in NYC. I think movies and video games are taking a piece of the pie too. Word around the campfire from comics alliance to IGN to comic vine, that posts on message boards aren't from people who read the books but read the solicits and say, "the movie is better!" even though one thing has Nothing to do with another.
Personally, judging from Leia's class room of 8 year olds none of the future generation are very good at comprehending anything beyond 4 paragraphs. It's all visual. That's fine but its not good news for writers in the comic book industry.
Hey, Gail Simone & Scott Snyder (American Vampire, Detective Comics) are following me on twitter! I knew my comic book review haikus would pay off. Haha.
Ah, the future of journalism where the # of followers that makes you authentic. *vomit*
Don't feel TOO sorry for these employees at Wizard. Most of these so-called comic book journalists especially in the NY area are jaded little bitches who circle the wagons to keep people out because it's a finite industry. There will NEVER be a large audience for it even today where it's gone mainstream because the movies supplant the books.
I remember when Greg & Devon went down to Comic book club way back in last March to talk to Alex after the show about press passes for NY Comic Con. Apparently Greg was direct and Justin took offense to that, "Like who wants to know..." What Justin didn't know was Wizard was 50/50 on hiring us to write for them as freelance through Greg's contact. It got stone silent. But Pete was nice enough to talk to Devon and Greg about how they got their passes through Alex's gig at newsarama.
BTW newsarama was on the fence the comic book club online. Alex got their passes less than a month before NY Comic Con. See, they get hired freelance. So this SMALL circle know each other.
Alex currently writes for MTV Geek writing reviews. I go back and forth with him via twitter. Good man.
Dude, having something published is PHENOMENAL (Even if its just a school magazine) I wrote some stuff recently that I could get people to read besides my friends when I ask for quality checks, so looking at you get basic publishing, I have tremendous respect right now. Congrats!
An incredible rally by Da Bombers. After CC shit the bed (again), Bret "the Hit man" Gardner made a diving base hit, igniting the rally. Pretty amazing inning as Teixiera and Swisher both changed their approach form taking first pitch to taking hacks and it jolted the Rangers horrible pen. Jeter may have had a subpar regular season but Captain Clutch was BACK! That Jeter-ian was back when he was getting pounded inside.
Give CC a little credit, that 40 million dollar tag stopped the bleeding in the bases loaded situation.
Back to the bottom of the 8th, I think Kerry Wood FINALLY got into a groove. Gotta imagine the Yanks have a few guys who have NEVER been in that high pressure situation. Once Kinsler gave the Yanks a give out, Wood was on.
And is Mariano Rivera human? Seriously? Even with calls going against him, doesn't panic and just mo-wed down the line up in the 9th. ICE. WATER. VEINS.
Forgotten in this rally is the great pitching by Joba and Mosley...without them, Hughes start is pressure down 0-1 with Cliff Lee on deck for Game 3. HUGE Win for the Yanks.
Just a good ol' fashioned grind it out win. It's like, I can never relax till Mo gets in there. The more things change, the more they stay the same. It'll be VERY interesting with Pettitte and Carl "American Idle" Pavano.
Am I out of line for being a little concerned the Yanks drew the Twins? Just something about going to the well too many times. Game 2 is worrisome. I remember very vividly last year how tough Pavano was against us. You know he wants to put the screws to us.
Pettitte has been shaky and who knows how bad his back really is. While I didn't like pitching Hughes at home where his ERA and Hr totals are disturbingly high. I can see Girardi wants to give Him more rest with the innings logged. Plus that puts Pettitte ready for Game 5 option.
Two lefties, CC and Pettitte should neutralize the Twins left handed bats.
I'm going to go with Yanks in 4 games. Your prediction?

So in the 2-2 split with the Rays, its time to play what have we learned? Well, its pretty apparent that the Yanks look out of synch. At the stadium for Game 3, i had watched Cano not even turn in the direction of two ground balls. Hence, a brilliant first inning by AJ Burnett turned into a 0-1 deficit. AJ Burnett does have the best stuff on the staff. Eve. CC doesn't have as good a repertoire as AJ but the problem is AJ doesn't trust his stuff. Well that night, AJ was on...and then the rain came.
Now, this is where MLB has to grow a set. Tampa doesn't want to come back to NY. Neither team likes double headers. And so, I sat there for 2 hours watching Yankee fantasy camp where no one under the age of 45 was playing. This is where Yankee stadium has changed: every inning, they upgrade someone's ticket to fill in the lower bowl of the stadium. Yes, through greed the Yankees have effectively given up their home field advantage.
While that won't stop me from being a fan, its a disturbing trend not just in NYC but all over that stadiums have become amusement parks. The problem is, baseball is not the kind of sport for ADD kids today. It's a tradition kept alive in NYC that the rest of the country will never truly understand. When you see a team like Tampa who is challenging the yankees and yet, at the bottom of the attendance, its clear that you can't replicate that kind of obsessive love.
Back to the Yanks game, the monsoon and lightning finally stopped, in walks in Rim Job Rob Royce who pitched a great 1.2 innings then Girardi thinking CC would guarantee a win put in Chad Gaudin who served up back to back homers. From there, the avalanche started the Rays pounded the Yanks.
My beef with Girardi this year has been his laissez-faire attitude giving up too soon and thinking CC, Hughes, or Pettitte is going to get the win. Can't help thinking there has been a half dozen games he's done moves like that to make a pennant race that much tougher.

My favorite quote was Torre saying he didn't have many problems with King George during his tenure as skipper. What a farce. As I said when we were @ Comic Book Club, "Clueless" Joe acted prematurely when he spat venom at the Steinbrenners, Cashman, and called 5 million a season, "an insult." Every one thinks at first, the West Coast is where it's at: See Torre, my brother, and in the near future DC entertainment...
I can definitely see Torre BACK in NY with the Mets. Why? Cause the Wilpons will pay Joe the money he wants, he misses the loyalty and love NYers have for Joe vs. Dodger fans who leave in the 6th inning.
Tomorrow I'm going to the Yankee game with my friend Dermot who bartends @ the Spring Lounge. Should be a good time. I'm jonesing for a $10 Hotdog and $7 cokes. Can't wait for turn back the clock day when new stadium sells cokes for $3 and Hotdogs for $5.
Talk to you soon,
Ron

Wow, an ugly win but a win nonetheless. No one was sharp today. Even Mo could use a rest. Now, Hughes takes the mound. Hopefully he can give the Yanks more breathing room.

Wow, I am going to have to ponder that decision by Girardi. Nova goes 6.2 innings and gets Longoria out. Joe opts not to go to Wood, Joba, or Robertson with a 4-2 lead. Instead he does to *drum roll Boone Logan* who brings in a run and loads the bases. Logan is yanked and in comes in *drum roll* CHAD GAUDIN! who walked in a run. Thus, tied 4-4.
Are we playing for the Wild Card? Way to use up the pen when the Yanks didn't have to.

what fairytale would you like to see be made into an animated feature or short or a live action film?
P.S have to read or heard of Ivan, the Fire Bird and the Gray Wolf?

In a word, bizarre.
