I actually disagree - short of a director and a good script, actors are the biggest difference between a good film and a bad film. And good actors don't work cheap. And I'm not "insinuating", that's their stated goal - they don't want to pay for big name actors anymore, they'd rather hand it off to untested actors who will work for scale so that they can make more profit off their films. As a movie fan (and a comic fan) I take offense to them cutting corners so that they can cash a bigger paycheck. And (since I know a lot of guys over there), Paramount isn't very happy with their choices lately either, so if the quality of their movies keeps slipping, they may have to find a new distributor.
