But Scizhouse, Artemis Fowl IS compared to Harry Potter all the time. As in "Hey kids, if you liked Harry Potter we bet you'll enjoy reading Artemis Fowl too."
Percy Jackson even more so as you once again have a misfit kid who discovers he's actually connected to a secret world full of mythical creatures and magic.
Damn this is the third time I've had to type this... :) first time, I was at work, and had to leave. second time was 5 minutes ago, and I (stupidly) accidentally closed the window while I was halfway through. Well, hopefully third time the charm.
OK, Faye. Faye is tricky. the character was created to be a sort of the PERFECT film noir style woman: She's silky sexy and dangerous (which many actresses can play) and thrown in to this mix is brash un-womanly behavior (backstabbing often, untrustworthy, eating Ein's dogfood) and also has a well hidden innocent side (due to her not being in her own time and all). So the actor has to be (1) super hot (2) have serious acting skills and comedic acting skills.
Spike and Jet were cake compared to this. I still haven't reached a final thought on Faye, but here are my best guesses (in no particular order)
Eliza Dusku
First, why her? She's already proven she can do all the stuff that make up Faye's personality from her portrayal of Faith on "buffy the vampire slayer". (1) sexy, (2) dangerous (3) sense of comedy & drama in acting skills and (4) occasional innocence Why NOT her? Well, I might be mistaken, but isn't she sort of short? (short for Faye Valentine, that is)
Elizabeth Banks
Why her? Sexy, check. Acting chops (dramatic and comedic) check. Why not her? this might sound lame, but I can't picture her as a brunette, or as film noir type woman. And Her voice isn't silky smooth like Faye's is.
Vanessa Ferlito
why her? she's got the look, and after seeing her in Death Proof she's got the moves, she has that attitude that is very "Faye".... why not her? the only thing I've EVER seen her in was "Death Proof" and her imdb just has a lot of TV shows I've never seen... I dunno if she could do this.
Hard to say, Bebop is one of those shows that I'm such a fan of, but have a hard time seeing any other version other than the anime and movie that's already there, you know? it's one of the few Anime seires where the English voice cast is not only GOOD, but JUST as good (arguably better) than the Japanese cast... the idea of dream casting hasn't come up...
But Scizhouse, I will do some brainstorming... and I'll get back to you who I think would be a great Spike. (hell, I'll do the rest of the cast too. just gimme a little time on that...)
The one thing that makes me worry is that I saw on IMDB that "Cowboy Bebop" was listed on a producer's page... and the guy in question had been producer on almost ALL of Keanu Reeve's movies since the mid nineties.
It's pretty far off, from what I can tell, which is good. The farther off a project is, the more likely it is that it'll dissolve and not go anywhere. All we can do is cross our fingers and hope that Keanu doesn't come close to sullying the reputation of Spike.
Basically, good dialog is when characters speak in a way that real people talk. Not just minimal exposition or describing what the audience can clearly see. Most good dialog features the clever turning of phrases and gives you the feeling that the character has a whole life going on outside of the movies current plot, which they make reference to. most of the time you'll recognize good dialog because you'll quote it and it'll have meaning outside of the movie.
Good examples:
Charlie Wilson's War
Kiss kiss bang Bang
The Forty Year Old Virgin
Fight Club
Glengarry Glen Ross
Pulp Fiction
Pineapple Express
The Departed
American Beauty
...and yes, even Iron Man and The Dark Knight

Even though the live action film will likely suck, at least we still have the originals!
Happy New Years. Stay safe, love your family and friends.

Spike: Damian Lewis (he'd need a wig, obviously...)

or Adrian Brody (not a spitting image of Spike, but he can ACT and pull off that retro-smoky-skinny toughguy thing)Jet Black: Josh Brolin (cheap photoshop job)

or Jeffrey Wright (not Photoshoppped.. I just think he'd be great)LAter on I'll post my ideas for Faye and Ed.
Faye Valentine: Another hard one... but here's my ideas:
Elizabeth Banks:
