Hey Harold, I don't know if you saw that I responded to your comment on my blog "Has Christopher Nolan Ruined The Dark Knight Rises?" or not. If you have not seen my response I thanked you for telling me that it was Bruce Wayne on the balcony in the trailer. Anyway thanks again.
*Why does it matter if storm or Uhura is light-skinned or dark-skinned they are still black plus its about the acting not their skin tone. Halle Berry is biracial and Zoe Saldana is Dominican and Puerto Rican but they are good actors.*
I was aware of their ethnicity already. And yes they are both good actors and beautiful women (although Zoe's thinness is approaching gross levels). Why it matters is the same reason Loreal airbrushed Beyonce's skin lighter in her ads in 2005. It's the same reason Elle Magazine lightened Gabourey Sidibe's face by like 5 shades on their magazine's cover last year.... Dark skinned black women are not considered attractive or desirable in the entertainment business and it has an effect on the rest of society. And with Storm and Uhura, you have two characters who would normally be dark skinned women, played by lighter skinned ones. It's like M. Night replacing the obviously asian main character in the Last Airbender with caucation kids. As for the negative effect this has, ANY psychological study done with children regarding race will show it. )Hell, I'm a victim of it myself. I'm a dark skinned black woman and it took me years to realize that I could be considered beautiful, and didn't have to use all those skin lightening creams.)
Late response, but I haven't read Ultimate Cap yet. It's on my list to read at some point, although I have to admit I'm not as big into Jason Aaron's stuff as a lot of folks seem to be.
Not in the foreseeable future. I'm a behind the scenes girl! If they ask me to do a review here or there I would be happy to, but they're not looking to replace Carlyle's spot.
