When you hear about zombies you ususally think:

 The modern Zombie was basically born this small black and white film, that is totally public domain due Romero being shafted by the production studio, and accidentally shafting themselves.Well in the last 15/20 years we got a new twist on the Zombies with movies like:

Which to asking about this, I hear Zombie fans from all walks of life quickly disregard as simply "Oh those aren't zombies, those are infected".  I've even watched cracked.com's web show "After Hours" do this, which makes me think of another franchise in another medium where the zombies have (literally and figuretively) evovled:

Since the first game all "Zombies" have been the result of mutliple genetic and viral experiments from the T,G and T-Veronica and mutliple other viruses. However when ever you bring up the Las Plagas infected of 4 or Uroboros Virus infected of 5 to a fan of the franchise, they are quick to disregard those as not zombies. though those same fans are generally accepting of Tyrant/Nemsis, Lickers and mutated zombies like that sort

 The reason why I bring this all up is because, not even Romero's "Zombies" pass this as they are possibly viral in origin, as it has never been made clear how Zombies in his world but viral infection is a possibility. So really when it comes to word zombie all above examples from 28's to Romero's to Resident Evil 1-5's(and all of those spin offs) fit the basic word even REC/REC 2 which goes with the supernatural explanation of possesion. Excluding a faction because, they aren't like the Romero zombies is kinda silly, especially when you remember Romero re-purposed the word from the original origins also.

For those out of the know, the original Zombies, the Voodoo/Juju zombies from before film are men and women who have just been stripped of their free will and now are forced to obey the will of a master. They didn't need to feed on
humans nor could they make more through bites or transmission of infected fluids like blood. You had to be subjected to a ritual or potion,they were thought be to be dead, some cases simply just being a deep trance(and this still happens to people, just look up Zombie Powder). You're wondering the danger of those type of zombies? you can always give them weapons to fight with and are still physically capable humans beings who care nothing for their body, able to open doors and run, sounds pretty scary now huh?

This is all meant just to be informative, as I've run into this a lot(Hell, I just ran into a youtube comment about this subject) and just want to help set the record straight.
