If it's crap... We'll tell you

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Owen Wilson has signed on to voice the rascally Great Dane Marmaduke, Fox's adaptation of the long-running comic strip.

The live-action/CG movie follows a family named the Winslows who move from Kansas to Orange County with their dog Marmaduke, a slobbery pooch who creates chaos wherever he goes.

Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy are set to play the human roles while Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson and Damon Wayans Jr. supply the voices.

Tom Dey is directing the film, which currently has a June 2010 release date.

MavenCree, you're right. Marmaduke doesn't talk. Wilson probably got attached to the film because of the popularity of "Marley & Me," and because Lee Pace already signed on as Phil Winslow, the main adult human male character. Why the dogs (yes I said dogs--go check imdb) have to talk in the movie adaptation we'll never know, or understand.

So, should we expect "writers" to piss all over our favorite comic strips now that they've pretty much drenched our comic books? Coming soon: Hagar the Horrible? Beetle Bailey? Oh Jebus no. They'd probably get so fucked up that Jack Black would end up starring in both.

Um.... Voicing....? I don't remember Marmaduke talking. It's been years since I read it, but still....

I'm guessing a live action Peanuts film is up next....
