William Fichtner Is The New 'Lone Ranger' Villain

Disney's 'The Lone Ranger' production has suffered quite a few setbacks, including being all but killed at one point. Last week, the recently renewed project lost its villain. Country-singer-turned-actor Dwight Yoakam was forced to depart the film over scheduling issues. But within a week, Disney was able to land William Fichtner ('Drive Angry,' 'The Dark Knight') as a replacement. Fichtner has been exceedingly busy of late, having just finished 'Elysium' at Sony with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster as well as co-starring with Ed Harris and David Duchovny in 'Phantom.' Fichtner will also be making his directorial debut with 'Coldbrook' after finishing 'Lone Ranger.'

Last minute casting changes can often spell disaster for a film, but in this case I feel 'The Lone Ranger' has officially traded up. No disrespect to Dwight Yoakam, I have actually been impressed with how well he has taken to changing over to acting, but William Fichtner is one of the most talented and underrated actors in Hollywood. He's one of those guys who turns up in so many movies, and you recognize his face, but most people don't remember his name. His career includes roles in 'The Dark Knight,' 'Black Hawk Down,' 'Armageddon,' 'The Longest Yard,' and 'Heat' just to name a few. I can't wait to see him take on this villainous role especially after his whacked out, and completely awesome, turn as The Accountant in 'Drive Angry.' My hope is that he keeps amassing parts in big productions like 'The Lone Ranger' so that he becomes the household name he so richly deserves.

Any Fichtner fans out there? Are you excited to see him in 'The Lone Ranger?'

Fichtner is one of the most underrated actors out there.  He was so badass in Drive Angry.

I am extremely excited to see that he has joined this movie. I loved him in Prison Break and every other movie I see him in I have always been impressed. I can't wait!

At first I was like "Oh, a guy who always plays the bad guy is playing the bad guy, Awesome." Then I saw that he was replacing a guy who isn't even an actor and was like "what Dawnell_do said."

Johnny Depp and Gore Verbinsky did a great job making an animated western. If this turns out to be crap I'll be shocked.

I agree... solid actor for just about any occasion. I'll be seeing it, and I'm glad they're making this after years in development hell. There will finally be a summer movie that will trick my dad into the theater.
