Have you ever wanted to see Wolverine's adamantium claws flying at your face from off the silver screen? Me neither. However, it looks like that is exactly what we can expect from James Mangold's upcoming cinematic take on the hero. Fox Russia has confirmed that 'The Wolverine' will be released in 3D, or so says a Twitter account I can't possibly read. The movie is currently shooting in Australia ahead of its July 26th, 2013 release date. Hugh Jackman will once again take on the role of the rough-around-the-edges, indestructible hero often associated with the X-Men. Svetlana Khodchenkova, Brian Tee, Will Yun Lee, and Hiroyuki Sandana co-star. The new movie will take place after the events of Brett Ratner's 'X-Men: The Last Stand' and find our hero in Japan to battle a warrior from his past.
This is a tricky one. On the one hand, the source of this story seems a little too roundabout to serve as confirmation. Why is it only Fox Russia confirming this, and then through a separate Twitter account? It's hard to even list back to the original source when I can't read it to know if that's what it actually says. So perhaps a measure of salt should be taken with this story. For the time being, let's assume this does stand as confirmation of the extra dimension. That means 'The Wolverine,' which did not shoot in 3D as far as anyone knows, would have to be post-converted. It's gotten to the point that post-converted 3D might as well be its own four-letter word. It never bodes well. Some films have been able to make it work, but those are the exceptions and not at all the rule. Damn it, just as I was getting excited about 'The Wolverine.'
What do you guys think? Anxious about the post-converted 3D? Think it will diminish the overall quality of the film?

Comment by Alejandro Marquez on October 31, 2012 at 7:25am They will just not let these mediocre movies die. Is there really that much of a demand for MORE Wolverine? He was the focus of the 3 X-Men movies, X-Men Origins, and now this.
