@Herman You have not seen the movie yet either. Yet the way you bash the Raimi films it seems that you believe it will be better than the Raimi films. I never said I'll be sad and depressed.
Did you read the title of my video? The title is " The Amazing Spider-man trailer review fallow up. “I reviewed the trailer not the movie. No I did not bash the movie as you acused me of doing. I bashed the trailer. Trailers are supposed to show you what to expect from the movie.
I apologize for assuming what you want from a Spider-Man film. However, it’s clear, judging from the trailer that the movie will be too dark, depressing, and emo. People who like the trailer must like dark, depressing and emo movies.
I disagree with you when you describe the Raimi films as campy. While the Raimi films were humorous, the humor was reflective of the humor of the comics. The dance scene is an example of the films humor. As many people have pointed out about this reboot, Spider-Man tells jokes. Humor is a big part of the Spider-Man comics. A Spider-Man film should be humorous and Raimi's films were. Judging from the trailers the Spider-Man reboot will be very light on the humor.
It's fine if you like the Gwen romance. I like it to. However, when a character dies then keeps coming back (as a clone, dream, or whatever) there death loses its impact. I prefer it when characters grow and move on and advance the story. Not to keep coming back to what would have been.
That's one big problem I have about this reboot. It's starting over. Instead of movie forward it's a huge step backward. I prefer for characters and stories to move forward. Don't retell the same story over, over, and over again.
The title is very important. Marvel has several Spider-Man titles and each of them is different. For example, Ultimate Spider-Man is an alternate universe Spider-Man. It's very important that the reader knows that Ultimate Spider-Man is not the real Spider-Man. The movie should coincide with the comic that shares its name. And yes other Marvel movies share elements with their Ultimate counterparts. However, there titles such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Thor are very vague. They don't say "The Mighty Thor" or "The Invincible Iron Man". This reboot's title on the other had is very specific. It says "The Amazing Spider-Man". Also, this reboot has way more Ultimate universe elements then the other Marvel movies.
You haven't even seen the movie yet. How do you know you'll be sad and depressed? You’re making assumptions on a movie you haven't even seen. You’re basing your entire opinion on the trailer. I thought you never did that?
Don't assume what I want in a Spider-Man film. What I want to see in a Spider-Man film is a balance of humor and drama. I would love to see Spider-Man actually making quips and annoying his villains. I also wouldn't mind if the film explored the darker aspects of his past(the disappearance of his parents, his connection with Dr. Connors etc.). I don't want the movie to be weighed down by camp and melodrama like the Raimi films. If you like jazz hands, random scenes and overacting, by all means, keep watching the Raimi films.
Why can't the film have the Gwen and Peter romance? Does my liking that aspect of Spider-Man's history bother you that much? So what if she's dead in the comics? Is that off limits according to you?
What's wrong with the title? Does it really matter if it has Amazing, Ultimate, Web, Astonishing or Spectacular is in front of it? Do you honestly believe that's a valid complaint? Do you really think that's false advertising? It's just a title. I just can't believe that would bother anyone. It's astounding to me.
I'm going to give this film a chance. I'm not saying it's going to be the best super hero film, nor am I saying it's going to be the worst. This film has a lot going against it(angry fanboys and the taint of Spider-Man 3). Hopefully the film will deliver. If not...then you still have your Raimi films. I'll just have to keep waiting.
@Herman It does not invalidate me because you think Ultimate Spider-Man is awful. That is your opinion. It’s not fact.
If you like an emo, depressing, dark Spider-Man that's fine. I happen to disagree. Like I said in my video, this reboot is not based on the Amazing Spider-Man comic. If they wanted a movie biased on the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon then the movie should have titled it Spectacular Spider-Man the movie.
As I said before, I go to a Spider-Man movie to have fun and a good time. I don't go to a Spider-Man to feel sad and depressed. If you like to feel sad and depressed, then by all means, go see this movie. This is your "Spider-Emo" It's not my Spider-Man.
Gwen is dead. Let her go.
You completely invalidated yourself when you said that the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show is how Spider-Man should be. Have you seen the show? It's awful. I will agree with you that it has a lot in common with Raimi's films. I hope this new movie will borrow from the Spectacular Spider-Man show. Spectacular Spider-Man had the perfect balance of humor and drama. It didn't have the camp and melodrama like the Raimi films. The symbiote didn't make him dance in that show. I'm giving this new Spider-Man film a chance. The fact that it has the Peter/Gwen romance(my favorite couple in comics) is a huge plus for me.
@Jonathan Snyder I agree. However, I have my doubts.
