What's happening to my favorite movie directors?

Now I'm going to talk about two of my favorite movie directors of all time, Quentin Tarantino and Guillermo del Toro, I'll first talk about Tarantino

Quentin Taratino

He's a huge movie geek, like a lot of us here in this website, His first feature film "Resevoir Dogs" was excellent, the cast was excellent, the story didn't drag, and the writing was outstanding, than, two years after it, he came up with "Pulp Fiction", now in my opinion, Pulp Fiction is Resevoir Dogs but 10 times better, the Cast is better, The story is a lot better and the writing is amazing, and I love Pulp Fiction, It's in my top 10 favorite films of all time list, than he directed "Jackie Brown", I havent watched it yet, so I'm not going to comment on it, after Jackie Brown, he a 4-Hour movie cut in two parts called "Kill Bill"

Now I know most of you know what I'm talking about, but I'll get to the point soon, Kill Bill was cut in two parts, Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill BIl: Volume 2, The first Kill Bill was a Martial Arts film, The second, was still a Martial Arts film, but kind'a focused on story more, and both of the volume's were excellent, I liked the movies a lot, but than came Death Proof, in his worst movie in my opinion, Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill were a lot better than Death Proof, the cast wasn't that amazing, Kurt Russel was great though, the writing wasn't that good, and it felt really stupid at times, but for some reason, I just like it, A perfect example of a Guilty Pleasure, I don't know, I watched it twice now but I don't know, It feels very stupid but I still like it, but two times is nothing, I watched Pulp Fiction five times, but if Tarantino made something like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill again, I wouldn't like it as much and of course if he made something like Death Proof again, I might completly hate it, I don't want to see another Death Proof.

And the film is making right now "Inglourious Basterds" is looking great, I can't wait for it, because it's something he never made before, It's a WWII Movie and according to him it's like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, I don't know, I'm just really excited about it, but than, I found out that he want's to make a remake of Faster! Pu$$y Cat... Kill Kill, and that movie is considered a cult classic, but I don't really want to watch it because it sounds stupid, It's about huge-breasted woman who beat guys or something like that, I know I'm sounding ignorant, but don't you realize how stupid it looks and sounds, and he want's some porn star named Tera Patrick to be in the lead role and there are rumors he wants BRITIANY SPEARS to be in the film, I hope to god things don't work out and this whole idea gets cancelled, because we get it Quentin, you want to have badass babes in your movies but seriously stop it, because now it seems like he wants to direct porn, Now like I said, I loved Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill and I think Tarantino is one of the greatest movie directors of all time, but he should try something different.

Guillermo del Toro:

I'll get straight to the point, Del Toro is one of my favorite directors, I only watched three of his films, "HellBoy" "HellBoy:II The Golden Army" and "Pan's Labyrinth", My favorite movie of his is Pan's Labyrinth, but honestly I like them all equally, but the thing is, he should get an american writer and co-write any movie in english with him, because the writing in Hellboy 2 wasn't that great, sometimes it was bad, anyway, He's directing the prequel to The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, The Hobbit and The Hobbit 2, the first Hobbit is coming out in 2011 and the second in 2012, and It's gonna take a lot of time, I mean 4 years to get both these movies out, but I heard that he isn't that big of a fan of Lord of The Rings, and I don't know, but It doesn't seem like he's that excited to make these films, I mean he already has a lot of future projects to work on, like Frankenstein and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and he seems like he wants to do those instead.

So I don't know, I think Peter Jackson should direct The Hobbit since he directed the trilogy and those turned out great, so he kinda understands how to make a Lord of The Rings film and Del Toro doesn't have that experince, yeah, Del Toro would probably make a movie that a lot more gorgeous but I don't know, I want Jackson to make The Hobbit and Del Toro to work on Frankenstein, but this isn't that big of a problem as the problem I have with Tarantino.

I'll finish off saying I respect both this directors.

Gabriel: Well yeah, my major problem was with Quentin Tarantino, I don't really have a problem with Del Toro, It's just that when I heard that he isn't into Lord of The Rings and isn't finished reading the the books I got pretty annoyed, I mean a project like Lord of The Rings needs a lot of dedication, I mean It's going to be a project he has to work on for three years, and when I read that Del Toro quote, The next day I went to the DVD store and picked up Pan's Labyrinth and now I'm obssesed with that film, It's excellent, but The dialogue in Hellboy 2 was fine, It's just the reactions and some of the jokes were stupid, if you watched the Spill review you'd get what I mean, but I kind'a wanted him to direct Harry Potter instead, but I'm ok with The Hobbit, I just hope we get a beautiful movie.

I'm a huge fan of Del Toro and his work is brilliant. I'm Spanish, and I just don't agree with that statement you made above. Hellboy II was written by Del Toro and also Mike Mignola, an American comic book artist and author. The first Hellboy had great dialogue, and that screenplay was written by Del Toro himself. You said the second had bad dialogue. It wasn't Del Toro, it was just the dialogue itself. But the second had fine dialogue too, I didn't see a difference. He's a smart dude, look at his view on monsters:

"My fascination with them is almost anthropological... I study them, I dissect them in many of my movies: I want to know how they work, what the inside of them looks like, and what their sociology is."

Secondly, you praised Del Toro more than anything lol. Like what's happening to him? He has a lot of big movie projects coming up, and he was selected to direct The Hobbit. That's a lot of success, I don't see anything wrong with it. Peter Jackson is going to be executive producer, so it wont even be a problem. You get two great minds working on one movie. Nothing is happening to Del Toro, except for the fact he's getting more succesful with each film he's releases.

But I do agree with you about Tarantino. After Kill Bill Vol. I and II, his movies are starting to look like they are going to go downhill. He even supports Eli Roth's work, which is just horrible.

Cool blog.
