What if I Wrote...The Daredevil/Elektra Saga (Movie Reboot)

Introduction:

This plot has to do with the introduction of Elektra. The first movie set up all of the other characters, this movie sets up and plays out the most famous saga in the title's history.

To purists, I'll tell you in advance that it's not a direct translation from the comic. The reason being is that this was already played out in the 2003 movie, and I don't want to just retread old ground. So the main difference in this script is that ninja's appear, and if Batman Begins taught us anything, it's that everything is better with ninjas. Plus it fits in more with Frank Miller's version of the character, than the more realistic gritty version we get today.

Not as much of a narration in this plot as the first one. I thought that the internal monologues would set the first film apart from other Marvel movies, I just felt like this one didn't need it.

The Characters:

I feel as though it's best to mention the new characters that will be introduced in this film before the plot is revealed. If you are unfamiliar with the average Daredevil cast, check the previous article. I took more liberties altering the characters to fit the story than I did with the last plot, so yes, I know there are some major changes. Hopefully, most readers will be pleasantly suprised by the changes.

Elektra: Matt/Daredevil's love interest and past sweetheart. She became a ninja mercenary assassin.

Stick: Daredevil's old mentor, also blind, and taught him in the ways of the ninja.

The Hand: A shadowy group of hood assassins that originated in Japan.

Kingpin's Step-Son: A minor role in this film, but it sets him up as a player if the series goes on.

The Police Chief: Again, a minor role, but he is being set up for a sequal.

The Plot:

Scene begins with Elektra killing standard henchmen, she stops an illegal shipment and knocks out the camera. The kingpin looks at the video screen and says: "Hire her."

We cut to Matt and Foggy looking through a high security window at Bullseye as he's come out of his operation. Foggy wonders/jokes if they should have given him a lobotomy him during surgery.

Ben Urich is at the crime scene where Elektra stopped the shipment. He looks around and asks the cops if there was anything actually being shipped, the truck is there, but the material is gone.

Cut back to Bullseye in a mental hospital, he's going over with his psychiatrist, the crimes he commited in the past movie. He talks about how he could kill someone with anything, even a paperclip. Bullseye says he's as cured as an Irishman can be. He looks at the paper and sees the shipment's robbery and something in him snaps.

Kingpin is in his office when Elektra comes in. She says that word on the street is that he wants to meet her. Fisk/Kingpin says that he cannot directly be associated with other criminals at this time and needs a defecto boss to run things. Elektra should be his right hand women and get things done. Kingpin says he'll give her the manpower to work. Elektra says she doesn't need any more manpower and a few ninja's are revealed. She mentions that they're "the Hand" and will control Hell's Kitchen by the end of the month.

She leaves the office, to see Matt Murdock, (who was one of the hooded ninjas) who asks if the Kingpin bought it. She admits he has and they kiss. Stick (DD's old mentor) appears and tells them that there's more at stake then either of them are willing to admit.

Ben Urich confronts Foggy about talking to Matt, says they he has some information on "the Hand" coming to Hell's Kitchen, later that night, Daredevil appears at Ben's window and tells him to drop the story. Ben asks what all this has to do with the Kingpin and him, but Murdock disappears.

Matt appears over where Bullseye is hiding, Bullseye says that he's cured. Matt mentions that the 40 dead staff at the hospital would diagnose him otherwise. Bullseye mentions that without his tumor he's stronger and faster than ever. He throws a card at Daredevil knocking him out, but before Bullseye can finish him off, a member of the hand (maybe Stick) chasses him off.

Matt wakes up in Elektra's place during some sort of ritual. He is being healed as they get intimate. This is one of the rare times in the series we see Matt smile. She mentions he'll heal before nightfall. Cut to the two of them jumping across roofs. They come across a shipment being stolen, Matt works from the shadows as Elektra takes action. She realizes that they are the Kingpin's men who are doing some work on the side.

She confronts the Kingpin while Matt and Foggy prosicute the thugs. The Kingpin says that the bust was most regrettable, but that his Step-son was one of the people being prosicuted and that that will not do. Elektra is told to take out Foggy as an example to any others that might try and take up this case. And also as a way to stop anything from linking to him.

Meanwhile Ben comes up to Matt and tells him that there is more and more problems with the hand. Matt says he's taken care of it. Ben holds off on the story, but says that the exposure of Wilson Fisk had better be worth it.

Bullseye arrives at Kingpin's place (among some dead guards.) He tells Fisk that he left him to die, and he wants vengence. Fisk simply explains that the underworld was Bullseye's to lose. He says that Bullseye can regain everything, if he only takes it back from the current defacto boss. (Elektra.)

Matt talks with Stick about taking down the Kingpin. Matt mentions how Urich has been hearing rumours about more of the Hand coming into New York. Stick admits that he is planning to take over the citiy's criminal elements, but only because a vaccuum would be even deadlier. Matt wonders if Elektra knows, and stick says that most of this was her idea, and that she's nothing like he thought she was.

Cut to Elektra tracking down Foggy. Foggy recognizes her, that she was Matt's love in college, he mentions how he works with Matt and asks how long she's been in town, and so on. Elektra has a flash of what killing him would be like, but she regrets it and leaves. Foggy says goodbye. As she merges into the shadows, Bullseye comes to meet her, and says that he thought she couldn't handle killing unarmed men. He then uses his card to cut her wrist and make her drop here weapon (the scythe). A battle ensues, and as in all versions of this fight, Bullseye wins, he plays cheap and dirty and comes out on top. He leaves Elektra for dead.

Ben Urich calls up Matt on a cellphone and says that he's written his article and sent it to the Daily Bugle, it'll be published in the morning. Ben says he's sorry, but there was another heist that he thinks they were involved in. Daredevil hangs up, but he can hear (with his super-hearing) the sounds of a dying breath, he runs around the corner and finds Elektra. Matt cradles her as she says she's sorry. Daredevil notices the card and realizes that Bullseye was the one to take her down.

Cut to Foggy, who is driving in a cab. Bullseye is about to kill him, when two members of the Hand show up. Bullseye says that if he can take down their leader, they should be no problem. He kills one and the corpse melts. As he kills the other, and is about to kill Foggy, Daredevil jumps in and takes him out.

Another fight ensues, after a long Battle, Daredevil paralyses his rival.

Daredevil comes into Kingpin's office with the Hand. Kingpin is told that his top advisors are dead and that if he wants to keep his income flowing through illegal means, than he'll have to get his own hands dirty. Daredevil then says that his step-son is going to prison and that they'll eventually link the crimes to him. The hand leaves and Kingpin is silent, knowing he is beaten for now.

Daredevil finds Ben tied to a chair, with a ninja about to chop his head off. A small fight ensues and the ninjas are defeated, but only after giving Daredevil a big beating. Daredevil then confronts Stick (who is also there,) he tells him that the Hand has never stayed in any one place long enough to become Lords over it, and that there had to be an ulterior motive for being here. Daredevil asks what was in the shipments, and Stick asks him to smell it. Daredevil smells the Mutant growth hormone (MGH.) Stick asks why else a blind man would still be so active at his age? He also tells Matt that there is a good chance that accident which blinded him had something to do with a prototype of the drug. When asked why Urich is the supposed to die, Stick says so that no one else can know their secret. Daredevil then says that Ben is a good man, and not like the others that the Hand has killed.

Stick tells Daredevil to grow up, and give one good reason to keep Ben alive. Daredevil says that without Elektra, the hand will have lost their connection in New York. He says that if the Hand kills Ben, Daredevil will leave the group. Stick says Ben will stay alive, but his life will come with a price, he throws Matt the vile of MGH and leaves. Matt gets Ben to tell him who was feeding him information on the Hand all along. Ben says it was Elektra. Something in Daredevil dies.

Ben then narrates all the lose ends of the movie, wrapping everything up in his article. Foggy and Matt take down Wilson Fisk's step-son. Fisk industries was investigated for fraud, a few companies were said to have illegal activities, but no one could touch Fisk. Bullseye is in the mental asylum, trapped in a completely broken body. And a retraction of the hand has been given, the lead source ended up dead. And of course Daredevil is still around, fighting crime where he's needed.

We see Daredevil appear over Bullseye with a gun, he twirls it around and points it at his head, it clicks and nothing goes off. He points it at Bullseye and says: "Your turn."

The film ends.

What do you think?

That's my proposed adaptation of the Elektra saga. Again, it's not perfect and I sure some purist will despise Matt's role with the hand. But I think it's a nice tribute to Miller's run.
So, here's the chance to have your say, was it too long? Was there not enough of a buildup of Daredevil and Elektra's relationship? (They'd mention their past a few times in the movie.) Do you think the Hand entering the picture was a mistake, and that a more realistic vision should be given? It's you're call, let me know what you think.

(For those that don't know, the game of Russian roulette was based on a famous Frank Miller issue, I'm thinking that the scene would open the third film. The third film would probably be an adaptation of Daredevil: Born Again.)

ya your right it was mediocre and doesnt deserve the hate at the same time
and the funny thing is i just watched the movie again today in my 1rst period class lol pretty weird because its my Algebra class but it kind of helped me think of what a good reboot would be like

anyways um ya Ben Affleck directing it? i could totally see that. James playing Matt would be confusing because hes already Cyclops. I still think Ben Affleck should be DD i mean ya lets be honest hes not the best actor in the world but something about him made me believe in Matt's character. I would like to see Kate Beckinsale take the role of Elektra, Jennifer was ok but she just kind of annoyed me in DD. And i thought Micheal Clarke Duncan was a good Kingpin(he definitely had the same attitude and body built as the character) but i always thought that Michael (The Thing) Chiklis would be a good Kingpin too but he already took the role for The Thing so i gave up on that idea. And finally for Bullseye, i dont know why but i think Jason Statham would be a pretty good Bullseye( i know its a weird choice but i would really love to see him play a villain) but Colin Farrel was good too i guess(he over exaggerated on the voice though)

Hey Reggie, yes, I've not just seen, but own the directors cut. It's pretty good, but I think it'd be great for a TV movie, but is pretty mediocre for a blockbuster flick that it was supposed to be. It's defiantly watchable though, and it doesn't deserve all the hate it has been getting. (Read the start of my previous article to see my view of the film.)

As for who would play whoever? I have no clue. I liked all the actors from the first film, they just didn't have anything to do. I think Ben Affleck should direct it. I could see James (Cyclops) Marsden playing Matt. As for the rest of the cast, I have no idea. Feel free to throw suggestions on here. (And that goes to anyone reading this, not just Reggie.)

that.....was...........AWESOME! dude that would be a great movie and i love the ending "your turn" that sent chills down my spine cause that is totally something DD would say

but hey who would you have play the roles? or would you keep the same actors (Ben Affleck, Jennifer Gardner, Colin Pharrel, etc.)
