Monsters Inc to open for business again? :Abrams mission on a Cruise “Mission” : Marvel at these Updates-The Reboot 2nd collectors’ edition…thing: Wes to Crae (i)n over Scream 4? : Ramis to do Extreme Ghostbusting ? Titbits’ + off topic:
Live from the Dresden Room, a few blocks from Mike's apartment in the Los Feliz area of Los Angles. It’s the I’m going on my on hols tomorrow big whoop for me edition of The Week-Enders.
Yes, yes. As I mentioned on Sunday’s blog I’m going on holiday to a wee Scottish Island for two weeks. Wicker Man tones and jokes aside, I’m looking forward to the whole R&R side of it.
But that’s for later, but what about the here and now? Well as you can tell this isn’t a regular sized W-E but I have picked the best stories and some for titbits too. So you’re not getting short changed here… much. But at least when I dip your pockets its fun.
Ok I can’t ask you your weekend was, but I can wish you a good weekend. And at least with W-E been posted early you can start your weekend of with it.
So how has your week been dear reader? Holy shit really? You punched out that asshole boss? Eh? What? … I didn’t tell you do THAT for god sake. Yeah I said use both fits, but I didn’t mean…. Never mind, just for the love of god tell me you washed both yer hands afterwards? Well good.
Ok. So seeing as it’s the start of the weekend, and the last one for a few weeks. I want this to be a real proper crack off. So are you settled? Sitting comfortably?
Ok then let us now and forever more, CRACK ON OFFFFFFFFFF! Phew, that was the best one yet Look at you having a cigarette.
First bit off news sees Pixar apparently making us aware of their plans for the future at the Licensing International Expo 2009. Although to be confirmed, it is thought that a sequel 2001 hit Monsters, Inc, will join Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 with a possible 2013 release on the cards. I have seen Monsters Inc and I enjoyed it, so I wouldn’t mind a sequel at all
.
Next the news that JJ Abram will be on board to help make Mission Impossible 4. JJ of course directed MI3 so naturally the films main star and all around furniture hoper, Tom Cruise wants him back. No word on if JJ will return as the movie’s director but he will be on board and ready to make the fourth MI. I don’t mind the MI films. I don’t think there’s ever been a bad one really, some better than others (my fav being MI 2). JJ’s MI3 was a grower for me. At first I was kind of Luke warm to it. But through time I go to really enjoy it, but I must be honest. Half the reason was because Philip Seymour Hoffman blew his co stars out of the water as the films bad guy Owen Davian. Putting the spotlight back on JJ. The man is riding on such a high just now. He gave the Star Trek franchise a proper kick start and a sequel is already in planning stages. He’s also got Cloverfield 2 on the way. He’s also attached to Stephen King’s adapt of the Dark Tower book series. So he’s defo a good shout for MI4. Ok, I want to just say that I think this guy should be given a comic book film at point in the future. I don’t what, but I think he could do a cracking job on a comic adapt. Last week I said how much I’d like to see Brian Singer return to the X-Men franchise if he wanted to some day. I still pick him as my No 1 pick, but if Singer didn’t come back. I’d like to see JJ take over the X-Men world be it a fourth film or an origin story.
An update about the upcoming Marvel films was put out by Marvel President of Production Kevin Feige. On Iron Man 2 Feige says that they will be keeping it the same in terms of the sense of humour whist adding new characters, stories and upping the action. Feige also said that the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) character will enter as one of Stark’s new assistants, but will soon to be found out as the Black Widow.
On Thor Kevin said confirmed that the actors Chris Hermsworth and Tom Hiddleston have signed up for the film. Fegie spoke well of both actors but he put over Hiddleston more so due to the fact he will play the movie’s villain Loki.
On the Captain America movie, Kevin stated that it will take place during WW2. And this will no doubt be linked to the “main event” film in 2012, The Avengers, but Fegie said Samuel L Jackson. Scarlett Johansson. Hermsworth and Hiddleston have all signed up for multiple movies.
As I have said before, I’m looking forward to IM 2 but I’m kind of fairly indifferent to the other three films. Of as I said this all seems to be leading up to the big film Avengers which again kind of indifferent to. I’m sure the films will be good though. There seems to be a lot of planning going into these films and the franchise in general.
Last week I was somewhat vocal about this proposal to reboot the Scream franchise by making a new trilogy. Well during the week Wes Craven gave an interview via the old cup and string. I tried to get him into the Dresden so I could tell him this would be a mistake but it wasn’t to be, and as you will read, he’s only “thinking about it” So with the trusted cup and string clamped to my ear I heard Wes say this about the possibility of him directing this and other Scream films,
"Bob Weinstein (The Weinstein Company co-chairman) has talked to me, he's interested in me directing it. I had a brief conversation with Kevin [Williamson], I know that Kevin is writing. What I've said to Bob is I'm not closed to it, I'm not open to it, I'll be perfectly happy to read a script and tell him what I think. That's where it's at and I'm not expecting a script until August. I don't think it's a reboot and Kevin, when he talked to me, said, 'Remember, it's not just Scream 4, it's Scream 56.' So I guess he has a trilogy in mind. I've been told, and I don't think they'll mind if I say this, the deals on David Arquette and Courteney are virtually set. I believe everybody else will be new."
He also confirms that Courtney Cox and David Arquette have signed on and will probably be the only ones from the first trilogy involved in this new trilogy. So shall we all take bets in if Wes will do this or not? I….. Um… I don’t think he will and that’s not wishful thinking on my part. I think he’ll this and just see a film that he can’t identify with. He won’t see the old Scream type of film that he knew and loved. Again, wishful thinking on my part perhaps. I’m not going on a rant again but again as I said rebooting to me. It just shows a lack of original thought. Yes sometimes it can be good but these days’ remake/reboots are never made of the noblest of reasons. I then told Wes that I enjoyed the first three Freddy films that I saw recently (cheers IH). Wes then sighed. I asked what the problem was and he finally said this,
"Yes it does hurt, it does because its such an important film for me that, unfortunately, when I signed the original contract I gave up all rights to it and so there's nothing I can do about it," he says. "I was much happier with Last House on the Left that I could kind of shepherd it towards production and we found a really wonderful director." "I don't even know who's doing it and I'm not interested. It's actually really painful to think about it. It's the film of mine that I probably love the most, and which made the most money. The script went around."
So maybe my point my on remakes are proven just a tad eh?

Well it’s been a while since he was here, we footed the bill for his shoes, well I did and if that shitty Dragon Ball movie had made any money I would have hit them with the bill and shit. Anyway making his return to the Dresden, it is Harold Ramis. Harold I have a drink for you so sit down and enjoy sir. You have an update yes. Well on you go, do it to it.
"I wrote the story for the new movie with them [Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg], and Dan [Aykroyd] and I've been consulting. We're just waiting to see a first draft and where we are. Everyone says they'll do it, they've all said they'll do it. No one has signed anything yet--we haven't signed anything either--but there's the spirit of willingness in the air."That "everyone" appears to include Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, but Ramis stressed that everything is an "open question" until the script's been finished. He's also not sure if either he or Ivan Reitman will want to direct, but left that open as well."
A new generation it is, well that’s good to hear. And I see the new game is coming out too. I’m looking forward to it. And this film. Hopefully it will be good, fingers crossed. As I said I do like this idea of “passing the torch” if you will. Oh you’ve finished your drink already? I’ve not even started mine. Here let me get you another one Harold. *leans over table knocks over full tumbler* Opps. Sorry Harold. Shit right on the crotch too. Yeah, I’ll um send the bill on.
Well that was embarrassing. And there goes half the holiday fund.
Titbits+ off topic
HBO and its Dark Mind: Here’s a cool find of an ad HBO did for its Dark Knight premiere tomorrow night.
Any excuse for playing the classic Pixie song, “Where is my mind?” I’ll take it, and it does look like a cool ad.
Strict District: Another cool find involves these cool District 9 pictures and a short film that inspired the making if District 9, “Alive in Joberg” made by Neil Blomkamp It’s a documentary style show that if you give it a watch will show you what you can expect from the actual film.

Short Basterds: Finally news that Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds came up a little short (kind like this edition of W-E lol) upon its Cannes showing. The film came in at 2 hours27 minutes. It is meant to be 2 hours 48. Tarantino has said that he will be re-editing the film after Cannes and might even add a full scene to it. But it is also said that the films backer the Weinstein are having financial problems just now and actually don’t want QT to do the add job. In fact they want him to cut a further 40 minutes from the film as they fell and this is there words not mine the film in it’s original timed format would be,
Are they right? Do you US folk really have a short attention that you can’t sit through a long film? Even if it did suck? I’d be insulted dear US reader. I mean saying that you can’t even have your attention span held for at least, oh, football…….
Now I asked for you to send questions to W-E, and we did get one from BDiddy, but the rest were odd. They may have come from two different sites. But first, B wants to know stuff about the Princess and the Frog.
The only info I can give you is from Wiki.
The Princess and the Frog is an upcoming 2009 American animated family feature film loosely based upon the book The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker[2] and presented by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It will be the 49th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics and the first 2D-animated film by Disney since 2004's Home on the Range. It is being directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, directors of The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, and Treasure Planet, with songs and score composed by Randy Newman and with the voices of Anika Noni Rose (as Princess Tiana), Oprah Winfrey,[3] Keith David, Jim Cummings, John Goodman, Jenifer Lewis, Bruno Campos, Michael-Leon Wooley, Peter Bartlett and Terrence Howard.[4]
The film, which began production under the working title The Frog Princess, will be an American fairy tale, Broadway-style musical set in the French Quarter of New Orleans. A prince named Naveen from the land of Maldonia[5] is transformed into a frog by the evil scheming voodoo magician Dr. Facilier. The frog prince asks a princess named Tiana to break the spell by kissing him. However, the kiss doesn't break the spell, but instead turns Tiana into a frog as well. Together, the two of them must reach the good voodoo priestess of the Bayou, Mama Odie, while befriending a trumpet-playing alligator and a hopelessly romantic firefly along the way. The film is set to be released on December 11, 2009.
Here's a tralier too.
Any other info is thin at the moment B. I can however tell you that whilst you’ll see this in December (maybe on Xmas day eh?) We UK suckers will have to wait until Feb 2010.
Ok this is where the letters get odd. I don’t know if it was a cross link, but I got two others on different subjects. Take a look.
Question for Some Ol’ Politics Bullshit.
Dear Mr Rubin, do you think Gordon Brown should stand down as Prime Minster?
From Mr Stickupbutt
Now I did say I would answer questions so. No I don’t. I think for us to blame Brown on our current finical situation is a cop out. If you look back to the 90’s and see how much money we spent. It was on the cards that this could happen. All Brown did was take on Blair’s mess, and we’re just as bad to pass the buck on.
Next one is movie related but I think of a different kind of movie.
Dear Chuck U Farhile
Do you think the classic film “Overflowing W-holes” should be rebooted?
From Ain’t It Cool’s Dick Rope.
Well at least the reboot problem goes beyond normal films too. Um, I’ve never seen it *cough* but I’d apply the same logic here I do with normal films. That film sounds like a true master piece and as with normal remakes it’s always the god ones that get targeted. Someone is targeting that W-hole and won’t stop until it gets remade into something that will look nothing like the original W-hole film. It sucks Mr Dick Rope.
And now the end is nigh. But before it is, toast time y’all.
BDiddy +Fred Jordan: Yes I’m still doing the tie in shit when it comes to the pair of you.
B, word up and all that, I see you’ll be celebrating your one year anniversary whilst I’m gone. A bit of a downer but here’s to a year of being a gangsta and an Awesome as fuck person. And I will miss you THIS much in these upcoming two weeks.
Fred: Sadly odds are you won’t read this, but I’ve toasted so many times you know the deal by now man. Cheers for the last few months. Being my Spill wingman is that what you call it? And that Awesome cage match story that also got me to write my own story with the superhero angle. Hope we can talk when I get back, but if not I’ll see when you get back to usual Cheers mate.
Icthy: The man with the vid connections. You’re a pimp when it comes to this stuff. Enjoyed the other two Freddy films btw.
Daedalus Ciaran: Careful what you wish for DC. An audio W-E might have you straining those ears ma man. Always enjoy reading what you have to say about these blogs you know. Starting to wonder what you’ve got in your blog locker?
Benjamin David: Cheers for reading these and keep up the good work on yours, it looks good so far man. And cheers for DK video.
Fubar Chick: So FC is coming back to Spill then? *Gets up on the rooftop* U hear that the rest of you! Fubar is returning to Spill City. Duck and cover or she will find you and FUBAR U big fuckinn time. That was a good plug for your return no? And good luck with yer exams. I still think I’ll win our bet, and I’ll be wanting a prize too. That trophy I gave to you would be a good start. And if you do return whilst I’m gone? Welcome back.
Ok that’s it from me for a wee while. Yes, yes I know the place I’m going to has Wicker Man tones. I did say so man. But I can handle myself you know. As bad as the remake is, at least Nichols Cage had the right idea. He kicked ass to get free. He failed of course but he tired. I wouldn’t as I am a younger and do not have a bird nesting and shitting in my hair. Ok well I don’t do good byes, and I don’t cry, but I will say that I have really, really enjoyed being here so far. And I look forward to returning with, well with the same old W-E. What did you think I’d return with a new look WE? Lol. Nah if it’s old and works why change it? Well I might make some changes that others can hear, we shall see.
Well, WHO/WHERE/WHEN AND HOW. BE LIVING BREATHING FUCKING MONEY!
Oh and IF I do end up a horrible sacrifice to a man made of straw. I want you to,
Guy (86)
"Death is but a door. Time is but a window. I'll be back"
That Dark Knight promo was really great. I love the emblem of a real bat behind the Batsymbol. It looks so cool. District 9 looks fantastic.
I dunno about the Marvel films. I mean, the Captain America film, as far as I can tell, is just a WWII film. Except unlike every other WWII film this one is all about how America won the war and no-one else even helped... oh wait, that's the exact same as every other WWII film. Except this one can't be excused for simply being an American side of the war as Captain America is supposed to have completely saved the world and ended WWII. It's like all the insensitivity of American WWII films is rolled into one tall, blue eyed, blond haired, Nazi wet-dream of a man.
And Marvel clearly knows that the idea of that is going to turn people away since they decided to call the film 'The First Avenger: Captain America'. They're using the buzz that will be running all over the place for the Avengers film to boost the film's profile. I saw the animated Avengers film recently and Captain America's origin and WWII story is told in the first fifteen minutes. There's really not a lot there. Thor in the animated film was actually quite funny and cool, so I might end up seeing the Thor film. I hope Iron Man 2 has a better story than the first one, which I thought was a let down after all the hype built from the trailer. I mean, you only see Iron Man three times in the first film? And the rest was a dull romantic plot and corporate espionage. Whoever the hell thought that belonged in a summer blockbuster ought to be fired.
I have to say though, I was thinking of this earlier; the Week-Enders is really the only blog on Spill that I read during the week. I mean sure there are others which may catch my eye. But nothing quite as dependably entertaining as W-E.
What will I do with out you for two whole weeks?..=(...."parting is truly such sweet sorrow"...
Tied with Mr. Jordan again, am I?..Oh well I can think of worse people to be tied with..LOL ( "that's what she said" )...W-E was just as good as ever..thanks for the info.
As far as missing me..I am sure I will miss you even more...
I ken ya a whole heap...just remember I will be here waiting for your return..go out & enjoy yourself...
and as always..."You are so fucking money"....
And for each & every nigth ..take a look up into the skies & remember you are My P of G..My K of S.
Much love, GW!
