@CheezySpam Don't worry about TotBF being cut back in man. It really does work in it's own way of bookending each chapter and setting up mood and themes for what's to come next. The ideas of madness and despair really do fit well with the tone of the movie and Gerard Butler is great of course....
It's not unbalanced at all.. in fact it gives the audience a great break from some moments and paces out the film a little bit better IMO. I don't understand what you mean by "watching it on TV" though...

Awesome, I was hesitating on whether or not I wanted to get this... but you sold me!
I'm still *kinda* worried about how TotBF are mixed with the live action sections of the movie tho. In the graphic novel it was my least favorite part, but it did parallel the main story... so while I do understand the reason behind it in the comic, watching it on tv seems like it would be unbalanced. I was one of the few who enjoyed the theatrical cut since I never knew anything about the graphic novel until early buzz came out about the movie anyways.
oh well, for the amount of features and the web-comic included? that kinda sells itself. thanks for the review Kent. Amazon here I come!

@Kent: Alright, awesome! I know what I'm buying next month! =)
@Cheshire Cat: The Black Freighter works with the plot, but it doesn't parallel the story or narrate it the way it did in the comics. It kind of works as book ending chapters and setting mood and tone for the next segment.

I'm thinking about getting the Ultimate cut, but I've already got the Director's Cut. Also, does The Black Freighter work in the movie's plot?

A while back I reviewed the new Richard Kelly film, The Box. The film did not receive fantastic reviews. I think it should have. I loved the movie. Join this group if you approve of my opinion.
I attended the midnight screening. Wow, wow, and wow there are some crazy fans. My friends may be one of them. It may have been that this film is so hyped up, or it may have been that i was with a bunch of excited people whose mood got to me, or ...
This issue was honestly behind me, but then I re-visited the movie (thanks Rifftrax, some movies DO have it comin’…) and with the release of the second film installment upon us (in much the same way that H1N1 is "upon us") it brought back all of t...
