Victor Vinoda posted a statusI've been sort of unreasonably excited for Franck Khalfoun's 'Maniac' remake ever since the first press materials began leaking. True, I am a fan of William Lustig's original film, but the thought of Elijah Wood playing a savage serial murderer (one who isn't named Kevin), is incredibly enticing. Today, we have the opportunity to watch the first six minutes of the film, produced by Alexandre Aja. The way it's shot is fascinating. It's not a found footage movie, there's no handheld camera involved, but we see the film through the character's eyes. It's as if we are actually inside the killer's head. The music is also fantastic; Casio ghosts of 80s past. Take a look at the footage below and let us know what you think.
'Maniac's US release date is still pending

Comment by john razzell on December 31, 2012 at 9:59pm interesting i've always wanted to see a film done in this style but i never thought it would be a horror movie.
Comment by BLU Year on December 31, 2012 at 5:30pm I'm...looking forward to a horror movie? What?
Comment by Chicago Bearded Hipster on December 31, 2012 at 3:52pm I saw this at the Chicago International Film Festival. It's such an ugly movie that I didn't enjoy watching it due to the level of brutality in it (I watch a lot of horror movies, I'm a gore hound and I love the first Maniac so I think that's saying something.) But it's such a well made movie that I have to respect it for the actors and it's technical side. I give it a High Acknowledgment haha I had to make up a rating for it.
Comment by SrgCoconut on December 31, 2012 at 2:10pm couldnt take this seriously. the entire time I was picturing Wilfred standing next to Elijah Wood saying "you need to kill her Ryan, if not for you than for Bear"
Comment by Lt. Commander Armstrong on December 31, 2012 at 2:09pm Holy shit! Usually I tend to stray away from horror films but after seeing this I can't not go see this.

Comment by Sight Gag on December 31, 2012 at 1:26pm This looks so fantastic. I am really pumped for this. Just the breathing and him talking to himself is a beautiful touch.
