Watch The First 10 Minutes Of Drafthouse Film's 'The FP'

Despite its generous cribbing from several varied sources, there really isn't a movie quite like 'The FP.' The absurd comedy from Jason and Brandon Trost has been picked up by Drafthouse Films, the new distribution wing of Austin's Alamo Drafthouse theaters. This movie isn't just a throwback to a different time, it feels like it takes place on its own planet. I've actually seen 'The FP,' and I can honestly say that it had me rolling on the floor. The way these guys commit to the nonsense they're playing with is outstanding. Drafthouse Films just released this clip, giving you a peek at the first ten minutes of the film. I really don't need to explain to you what it's about, because the clip does a damn good job of that on its own. This should help you definitively conclude whether 'The FP' is for you or not. Take a look at the clip below and let us know what you think. For real.

'The FP' drops in select theaters March 16th.

@ Ricky Ray Actually I'm an Undergrad you little shit. Pardon my grammar but i tend to skip words when i'm typing quickly and when i'm pissed off. Usually I read over the stuff i type four or five times before send it but i had an essay to write at the time (yeah i was using spill.com to procrastinate).

So first, i shouldn't have said it was mocking bad grammar but more that it was mocking slang. Second, let me give you the definition of a hipster, it is essentially person who dislikes something for no other reason than the fact that other people like it. Saying you don't like Midnight in Paris is one thing but saying that its shit means you think yourself to be a cool motherfucker to be going against a movie that a lot of other people like, hence hipster.

Oh and finally go shove a brick up your ass. You talk about how one guys regurgitating shit when your making the "your grammar sucks so you must X years old" argument.

And yes i'm pretty sure there's grammar mistakes in this comment so have at it. I got a shit load of research papers to read.

This made me cringe.  I don't want to sound racist, but I don't understand why caucasians think trying to talk to like that is funny, it's not.  It's corny and stupid.

@ Longleke

Thank you! Glad to see not everyone here is a blithering idiot.

Hey guys...shake hands? Come on...it's just a shitty trailer...group hug? Stop...just stop fighting...hug it out?

Who threw the fucking punch?! >Cocks shotgun< HUG IT OUT MOTHERFUCKERS!

@Trent
"its called having an opinion and everyones opinion is that these guys post this movie that is'nt a very good film and they're not shoving it down our throats but lets be honest they talk about this movie all the time like its the new scott pilgrim, noones acting like dicks were just sharing the same opinion as you..... just not sounding as pompous." -Trent

That, ladies and gentlemen, was all one sentence. Congrats, Trent! :D
I also love the contradiction of "they're not shoving it down our throats but lets be honest they talk about this movie all the time like its the new scott pilgrim". Really?... REALLY?? (-_-') Your comparison is what any reasonable person would call "shoving it down your throat". You know it and I know it... Good thing they aren't doing that though. This is only the second post about The FP that I've seen on Spill, the first being the trailer. That's a reasonable amount of coverage. If you really think, THAT THEY THINK, that this is the new Scott Pilgrim, well then I see just how far removed from reality you really are..........
Dude, we're not talking about opinion. I'm of the same opinion as everyone else: "this movie looks bad". I'm merely saying that y'all should stop being so juvenile ABOUT your opinion.

"we need a follow-up article. What do you have to say for yourself, Spill?"
"sellout"
"how long you going to ride the darfthouse's dick?...losing respect for you guys"

These are just some of the ridiculous comments being thrown, not at this movie, but at Spill. Especially that guy who demanded an explanation... WTF? He can't demand shit. He can leave the site if it's that important to him! Such a reaction is rude and unfounded, especially when the explanation he's looking for is so blatantly obvious: the article is positive (and somewhat undeserved) word of mouth to help out a friend. There IS a way to express that opinion without bitching. Look, all I'm saying is that guys like you should have a little more respect for the people who work so hard to provide us with movie news in the first place.

 What Rabbit?

Hey dumb ass. I forgot to mention that co-host liked Midnight in Paris. Still respect him motherfucker?

Comment by Abdullah Alhazred on March 8, 2012 at 3:45pm

I like it. It's mocking all the things i hate cheesey sports movies, cheesey dance movies, and bad grammar. It's gotten some some good reviews too.

Oh and go fuck yourself What Rabbit?. I love how your complaining about hipster when saying Midnight in Paris is shit is a very Hipster thing to do. I highly doubt you would say anything about the film it wasn't so popular (almost every critic worth mentioning likes the film). Seriously what's so crappy about it? It's homage to people who influenced all of modern art and literature? It's highly intelligent argument against the concept of a golden age? Give me a straight goddamnit. Oh and if you lost respect in the spillcrew why don't you leave the site you dumb shit.

Comment by Trent on March 8, 2012 at 8:54am

@longleke then next time you see a Friedberg Seltzer movie knowing full well that its gonna be a piece of shit  will you give it a chance and go see it or will you follow the spill crew and call it a piece of shit. its called having an opinion and everyones opinion is that these guys post this movie that is'nt a very good film and they're not shoving it down our throats but lets be honest they talk about this movie all the time like its the new scott pilgrim, noones acting like dicks were just sharing the same opinion as you..... just not sounding as pompous

I've already commented once, but allow me to be the first to say that some of these comments are getting kinda ridiculous. I'm sure that this film is perfect for..... someone :/ I find it highly unlikely though that "The Spill Crew" is that someone, but if so, more power to him/them. No, this is OBVIOUSLY getting attention from Spill only because of their friends at the Alamo Drafthouse. Can we let that fact die already? Advertising for a friend isn't some kind of cardinal sin against journalistic integrity. So please everyone, stop waving it around like they have something to be ashamed of.
Truthfully, in my first comment I said this: "Sorry, but you, the enigmatic "The Spill Crew", seem to be thoroughly alone in your like for all things Alamo Draftho........ I mean, this film." and I stand by that statement. I stand by that statement because 1.) It's true. and 2.) I seriously doubt that "The Spill Crew" really loves this movie... I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Nah, this article is graciously giving positive word of mouth for a friend, but "biased"? No. Shoving the film down our throats? No. "Selling out"? No. "The Spill Crew" wants to see this film do well in the same sense that everyone on this site wants to see Carlyle's film, Sinster, do well. It's understandable. So how about y'all stop acting like dicks? Kay thanks.

Damn, I am so freakin' glad that the consensus is on this is that it's garbage. After reading the article,  was dumbfounded. This looks insanely bad - on a Disaster Movie or Epic Movie level. I really want to hear an explanation about the positive words above. Who wrote this? Was it Salisbury? Surely not Korey. Cyrus has stated before that none of the crew reads the comments section on posts (save for the LEOG boards), but if there is someone reading these comments who can see how perplexed we all are by such a glowing review for something that does not deserve any praise and should be little more than a 5 minute You Tube video (and no longer than that), we need a follow-up article. I can't be the only one who would like an explanation. I trust the news on Spill. I come here first to read up on what's new, but after something like this, I might as well go back to reading the biased ramblings of HArry Knowles and the news at AICN.

What do you have to say for yourself, Spill?
