Full scenes from 'John Carter' now? We must really be closing in on that release date. The scene released today from Andrew Stanton's film isn't what I'd call Earth-shattering, but it does give us a hint as to the flavor of the film's action sequences. It shows John Carter (Talyor Kitsch) leaping from a cliff to escape an advancing alien army. However, I have to say, Mark Strong among the CG aliens was the high point of the scene for me. Take a look at the scene and let us know what you think.

'John Carter' hits theaters March 9th

Still not sure what this movie's about.

I don't Andrew Stanton is going to have the same success as Brad Bird on his first live action feature.

1) I'm glad to see a reference to the fact that Carter's only power is he jumps really good.

2) The CGI when they were running looks... Iffy.

3) I will be seeing this in theaters. Period.

I'm interested in watching it. But the CGI just seems, too much.

Mark Strong is so AWESOME!

@ pepe: The jump may not break his legs, but sure as hell would have split that reed boat in two, sending him, the princess and their green friend to the bottom....

Still I want to see this. I have fond memories of reading this as a kid (yes in the 60's) and always dreamed of what it would have been like as a movie.  And yes, many have used plot points from the series in movies and stories over the last 30+ years. But in my view, it will be fun to see the one that started it all finally get to the big screen. Remember, these are the people that have brought us some seriously cool and powerful PIXAR films to date...

The one who jumps can't save this movie!

Hmm, the humans stand out a wee bit too much against all that CGI. But, I'm still kind of curious about this movie. Unless the reviews are just awful, I might end up seeing this.

This movie looks like it might have the same problem that The Narnia movies had. The Barsoom series influenced a lot of science fiction stories that came after them, but those stories were adapted to films first or were already movies. If this is a faithful adaptation of A Princess of Mars, there's going to be a lot of tropes used in this movie that we've seen so many times in other films that ironically got inspiration, directly or indirectly, from the original novel.
