BlackBelt Jones posted a statusI have to applaud the almost William Castle/Roger Corman lengths to which David Fincher is going to promote his film 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.' The movie is a remake of the 2009 Swedish film based on Stieg Larsson's best-selling novel. In this latest piece of marketing, from the film's viral site Mouth Taped Shut, an entire fake, late 80s 'Hard Copy' segment is recreated and then made to look as if it were taped from TV; replete with classic commercial snippets and tracking lines. If you don't remember 'Hard Copy,' it was basically a sensationalist news program that ran from 1989 to 1999. This video lends interesting context to the film and provides us with a unique introduction to its exposition. Nothing is really spoiled other than the setup. Check it out below and let us know if it gets you psyched to see 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.'

@Quicksandbuddy thank you for saying what needed to be said! I finished those 3 fucking books in less than a month this past summer, because they were that good! Then I saw the movie and I was not really impressed, I have yet to watch the other two. Not dissing them, but from watching the bits i've seen from the Fincher ADAPTATION (lets stop calling it a remake) I noticed that Erika is actually going to be a significant character in this film.
I also think Rooney Mara is exactly how I envisioned Lisabeth, the swedish chick did a good job but I felt she made Lisabeth kind of one note and way too confident versus the quiet and confidence lacking characteristics she displays to everyone else in the book.
Comment by Quicksandbuddy on December 9, 2011 at 1:37pm If you watch the 8-minute trailer you quickly realize that this is so not a remake of the Swedish film. Almost none of the scenes in that trailer, which are ripped straight from the book, ever made it into the Swedish version.
I am not a fan of the, in my opinion, over-glorified Swedish film. I had just read the book right before seeing the movie, about which I had heard nothing but glowing praise, so I ended up really disappointed. I'm pretty shocked that the English version looks so much more faithful to the original story. Even Rooney Mara looks dead-on as Lisbeth physically and personality-wise. Rapace was a good anti-heroine, but she wasn't Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth. Too blatantly pretty and angry. Lisbeth is supposed to be seemingly emotionless to the point where everyone thinks she's mentally retarded. Rapace just came off as pissy.
Not to mention that this seems to prove that Fincher has a real passion for the film that I didn't get from the Swedish one.
All that to say I have really high hopes that this film. Hopefully, it'll capture the true message behind the book, because it's a message that people everywhere need to understand

he's a character actor named Eric Lange, Most people recognize him from lost; he played Stuart, who was a secondary villain from season 5. He's been in quite a few things, turning up in TV shows and movies in bit walk on parts. The only reason I know his name is because he's friends with a good friend of mine.
Comment by TheVern on December 7, 2011 at 11:25pm Damn I think I might have put my foot in my mouth for not calling Fincher's version an adaptation because they are adapating the book to the screen. I guess I will have to wait til I see it before I can call it a remake or not
Comment by Bat21 on December 7, 2011 at 10:45pm This is probably where David Fincher got the idea.
Comment by David on December 7, 2011 at 8:41pm Hehe. This looks fun.
Comment by The Dork Knight on December 7, 2011 at 5:48pm I was already very excited to see this movie, I mean not only did I love the 2009 movie, I've loved every trailer I've seen for it so far. It looks very atmospheric, creepy and yet fun at the same time. I might already knows what happens but DAMN I want to see this even more to be honest. I mean lets see, David Fincher is directing, the casting is perfect and almost resonates from the Swedish version, AND its scored by Trent Reznor...it seems almost impossible to suck.
