For a company that is still teetering on the edge of financial ruin, MGM sure is making some odd choices about what to spend their money on. They recently announced that they will be teaming up with Vin Diesel to make 'The Machine' - which Diesel would star in and produce. However, never before has a plot synopsis gone from awesome to terrible so quickly. Here - we'll show you what we mean:

Vin Diesel will play "a human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world's first true ultimate weapon..."

Great, right? Forget about Schwarzenegger and his saggy old moobs, let's get Diesel in there to play the next generation of cybernetic killing machine bent on destruction! Unfortunately, it continues...

"Twenty years after the project was buried and decommissioned for reasons unknown, The Machine is discovered by a kid who befriends him. When the government learns it has been reactivated, the Machine must protect the family harboring him."

[insert sad trombone sound here]

And with that, what began as something that could have been really cool gets automatically relegated to the Walmart bargain bin right next to 2005's 'The Pacifier' - which is fitting since 'The Machine' once again reunites Diesel with 'Pacifier' writers Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant ('Reno 911', 'Night At the Museum').

I want to see another Riddick movie.   Any Riddick movie has to be better than this garbage.

@ BBGGWW When I first saw this, I actually thought it was for a Terminator sequel.
