Yeasterday someone told me that I should grow up and stop playing videogames, that those were for kids. This, of course, left me wanting to kill that person. I mean, how can someone say that in these days? The average player has between 25 and 32 years old. And,, in some instance, everyone plays videogames, even if just arcade videogames, or the online poker for example, not to mention the good old solitarie. Even people in their 60s are playing (the wii as created an entire market of it's own).I"Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way to affect the senses or emotions." In this defenition, a game could be an art form, but very few games can really do this. So, we can't yet consider a videogame as a work of art (in my opinion). An exception, for me, it's the Video GAmes Live show. The music composed for the games is an art form. Some of it are really good compared to movie soundtracks for example. The Halo or Mass effect main themes, or the Sephiroth theme from Final Fantasy.
And I can't forget the game Shadow of the colossus. The epic game is probably the one that creates your emotion's. It really makes you feel the solitude of the character, while on the other side deals very well with themes such as love or even religion on some sense. And the, in the end you discover that by saving the woman you love, you could be doming the world. And I know someone who cried when the horse in Shadow of the colossus sacrifices himself for you.
