If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Sabretooth posted a statusI'm really touchy about spoilers, and tend to go into hyper-precautionary mode when it comes to TV spots. More often than not, the TV spots are what divulge the biggest spoilers. However, I am happy to say that nearly all the footage from this first most recent 'Dark Knight Rises' TV spot is compiled from other trailers and clips we've already seen. I do like the way it's edited together to build suspense. I also love, no matter how many times I see it, the shot of Bane (Tom Hardy) casually tossing away a broken piece of Batman's cowl. Chilling.
Now this TV spot on the other hand does feature some new footage. However, the new footage is mostly interactions between Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman). I watched it, I don't feel spoiled, but be forewarned that you will see more in this spot than you have up to this point. Take a look at one or both of these TV spots and let us know what you think.
'The Dark Knight Rises' ascends to theaters July 20th

Comment by Brian 'Born-a-Bastard' Jordan on June 4, 2012 at 10:08pm Wow over emotional arguing on the internet...who would have guessed. Anyone notice when Wayne says 'I'm retired' it looks like he's holding himself up on crutches? There are scenes in a few other trailer were it looks like he's sitting in/turning in a wheel chair. Some one's getting their back popped...
Comment by Mark Stronghold on June 4, 2012 at 1:09pm @Christopher Are you retarted or are you bringing up the most stupid/blind counter arugments just to prove your point. Everybody thinks the dark knight is "realistic". That IS the reason everybody loves it. I guess Korey Coleman is an idiot, because thats the reason he constantly brings up for loving it. Because, "its as realistic as you can get with batman" Of course the batmobile isnt real. Of course if batman existed for real he would be dead in an instant. If you are really that stupid to believe that by realistic people meant that then you truly are an idiot. But I don't think you are "that stupid" to believe that. I think that you just brought it up as an argument, to just prove your point, hoping that I won't call you out on the stupidity in it. Pathetic. If you have never seen young justice then you have no idea how genius writers can truley get with superheroes. You can have the superheroes still be super and still have the drama between characters and development of characters dark enough to take it seriously in its world. Arkham has no development of batman but has the serious tone of batman down to a tee. And by the way asshole, unless you are completely retarted you should know that I gave a counterargument, not just said fuck you. But of course, you like other hypocrites, want to pick out what they want just to prove themselves right. You're and idiot, and fuck you.
Comment by Lewis Morris Iz Tha Illest. on June 3, 2012 at 3:16am To say that it's not a comic book movie because its more "realistic" is to devalue comic books in general. Comic books are many things, including fantastic, dark, realistic, silly, etc. I love "The Avengers" as much as everybody else, but I feel like the world of that film feels small at times. There is a clear case of good & evil. Meanwhile, in Nolan's Batman films, the definitions are blurred, and they give us something that, for me, is much MUCH more substantial then watching The Avengers fight a battle that we all know they're going to win.
I think it's supremely stupid to say that "The Dark Knight" or "Batman Begins" are not comic book movies. Are y'all kidding? OF COURSE they are. Just because the approach is different than, say, The Avengers or "Thor" doesn't mean that it's any less of a comic book film. The Dark Knight, to me, is the greatest comic book movie simply because it gets the essence of the comic books right, while giving us a unique & fresh take on the mythos.
Comment by Mark Stronghold on June 1, 2012 at 11:19am Im not really a comic book reader. I just love Young Justice and the Arkham Games and those are the most mature interpretations of superheroes in media I have ever seen. And they still had the characters who they were. That really made me happy and raised my expectations of what I can see in a superhero movie. Nolan brought them down by comming across like you cant make a serious movie in the batman universe

That's understandable. And they can be on how you want to view it though. Some are serious, some are silly. Some can be both. But just because they can be, doesn't mean they don't connect to people in more ways then one. Though I don't know your definition of silly for comics. But I will just say that they can look silly, but they all have very serious moments that most comic fans will love and feel a connection with or just care. It's like watching a TV Show and you care for these characters a lot and hate when bad things happen and you can compare your life with them. So comic books being a bit silly is just a label for some people who...well idk the word for it cause I don't find them silly most of the time lol.
And I should add that, I did say this earlier to someone else that didn't understand this but I can see you will. You can understand why us comic book fans would say what we say now. We don't see that its that close to a comic adaptation. For me I love the films, but I still say its not the greatest adaptation as people say cause it misses some points. We want to see these bigger then life characters come to life but Nolan has to limit them to a realistic way, we don't see the full character. It's a great film overall, but as a comic book film its not the greatest. It's good, but there are a...I'll just say a couple more comic book movies that are more faithful to their counterpart.

To be fair, I'm not into comics too much. I can see how I would feel if somebody took characters from my favourite book and started messing with them, even if a good movie is a result. So I'm just in a better position here, because I dont have that much of a connection to batman comics, and that tis not what I'm looking for. Ignorance is a bliss. But aren't comic books a bit silly anyways?
Comment by Rockwell18 on May 31, 2012 at 5:53pm @Arthur
Admit to yourself that the only reason you want a movie to be more faithful to the comics is to geek out over some references and feel that all those hours you spent reading comic books instead of popular science books were not totally wasted.
You obviously don't get the point and just being OF COURSE the fan boy that just won't take an opinion and say people like me or Mark are wrong. So no that is not the reason we want them to be a little more faithful to the comics. Its more about seeing these characters or city come to life in its full form. We don't...well I don't care for silly references. So pretty much this is what I mean, do I want to see the Bane Nolan has in his movie, or do I want to see the big hulking Bane from the comics that still acts like he did when he did break Batman. I rather seeing the hulking Bane from the comics that still acts like he did when he broke Batman. Cause that fully shows off Bane. A comic book movie shouldn't have limits. I want too look forward to say...a Batman movie and start questioning "Omg I wonder who will be in the next movie as the villain!" instead of "Ok so which villain will Nolan use that is more realistic..." But that's just one thing not comic booky about Nolan's films. Point being, Nolan's Batman has a limit to what he can do.
His films are great, but I don't think they are as faithful to the comics as people say.
