Today we have two brand new posters from Sony Pictures 'The Amazing Spider-Man', directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield as the titular wallcrawler. While the first trailer went a long way towards relieving some of the "anti-reboot" people (and you know who you are), I can't help but feel like the company is severely dropping the ball in the print department. Sure, both posters have Spider-Man on them but can't we get something a little more original? The first poster at least tried to take a new route, but these are nothing we haven't seen before. Really? A shot of Spidey with something reflected in his eyepieces? Spidey posing above a city street? If this reboot is going to be taken as seriously as the company is hoping, they're going to have to start showing us something new and unique.

We also have the international version of the first trailer, which has a few extra shots and features more scenes with Peter Parker's parental figures, Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field):

Has anyone commented on the fact that the producers stated they are trying to go after the twilight audience?

Has anyone commented on the fact that the eyes are silver -- not gold -- anymore?

Say what you will, the second poster looks great. A great addition to my wall.

@Toe Knee Bee Bears

Love your post! Agree with you 100% about EVERYTHING. You nailed it.

@keh006

He does come off as threatening when he needs to. That's why he shows up at his best friend's house and lobs a grenade at his face, that's why he hits Mary Jane in a dance club, the character DOES go dark. But still, Peter IS a dork and the symbiote serves to make him all the more self-obsessed and arrogant (which he was having troubles with early on in the movie).

On top of that, Peter and Eddie Brock are supposed to be mirrors of each other. Eddie Brock on an average day behaves just like Symbiote-Peter: He's arrogant, he hits on women like a douche, he's a total prick to most people. So when Brock gets the black suit, he's essentially a fully-bad Spider-Man doppleganger. He's the embodiment of the dark-side of Peter that he was struggling with the entire movie.

@mjtfreezeYou said it best." Nothing looks fun." One should come from a Spider-Man feeling like they had a good time. The movie should make you feel like you want to be Spider-Man swinging through NYC. It should not make you depressed and wanting to slit your wrists. That's the feeling I get from the trailers. Oh boo hoo look at depressed mopey Peter I feel so bad for him.  :(   Not all Superhero movies have to be dark. I'll give this movie a chance but I have my doubts.

I heard that Zack Snyder wants to make Superman dark and edgey to. That's one superhero that defiantly should not be dark. I love The Dark Knight but, it started this trend which works for Batman but it does not work for Spider-Man or Superman.

Now Avengers, that movie looks like tons of fun. That’s the tone a Spider-Man movie should have. I so wish that Marvel had the rights to make a Spider-Man movie back.

@Marshall of the Universe  I have to disagree. Peter should not be anti-social. Before Peter gains his power he is a very specific type of nerd. He is very intelligent and he is shunned for being very intelligent. He does not avoid people. People avoid him. Think of Lisa Simpson. Peter is basically a male teenage Lisa Simpson. He is not the emo kid that sits in the back of class with his black hoodie on all the time. He is the nerd that sits in front of the class who raise his hand all the time and tutors other students. And Tobey did just that. He Tutored Harry and Gwen as well as helping Dr. Connors and Doc Ock.

And that dance scene was hilarious. It was a joke. And people say that Tobey's Spider-Man never joked around.

Also, how do you get depth from a couple of 2 minute trailers?

The dance scenes in Spider-Man 3 are horrible because your trying to show how the symbiote changed Peter. He suppose to come off as threatening but everything he did was a joke. So he's a geek that's trying to act cool and badass. He could've done that out of his own free will without the suit.

My biggest problem with the Raimi films was the campy tone. I could never get into them. Spider-Man 3 entered Batman and Robin territory with the camp, dance scenes, overacting and poor dialogue. I just want a Spider-Man film that can balance humor and drama. Hopefully this film shows us a Spider-Man that is both smart and funny. I'm  going to give this film a chance.
