In 2002, a young horror director by the name of Eli Roth gave us a flesh-eating virus film entitled 'Cabin Fever.' It garnered a modest fan base and even spawned a sequel, 2009's 'Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever.' Now it appears we will be getting not one, but two new 'Cabin Fever' films. The Indomina Group will be shooting a pair of prequels next spring in the Dominican Republican. 'Cabin Fever: Patient Zero' will weave the tale of a cruise ship that collides with a research vessel creating the disease featured in the original 'Cabin Fever.' This will be followed by 'Cabin Fever: Outbreak' about a researcher sent to the Caribbean to investigate a flu outbreak which turns out to be, you guessed it, a flesh-eating virus. 'Patient Zero' will be written by Jake Wade Wall ('The Hitcher') while Adam and Deborah Marcus are scripting 'Outbreak.'

As much as I enjoy 'Cabin Fever,' 'Cabin Fever 2' is garbage. I feel the studio is vastly overestimating the franchise potential of 'Cabin Fever.' We don't need one more film in this series let alone two prequels. The fact that 'Cabin Fever: Patient Zero' is being written by the writer of 'The Hitcher' remake further fails to instill confidence. The scariest part of all of this is that there is no mention in this story of a theatrical release date. Will these films be direct-to-video? As a horrorphile, I really want to support this project, but it seems to be showing all the symptoms of a doomed venture.

What do you guys think?

Does this mean more of this?

the only good thing Eli Roth ever did in his career was playing the Bear Jew. pass.

Producers should stop making franchises out of movies with no franchise potential. (i.e. Cabin Fever). I mean, Don't you lose money that way? I don't know about anyone else but I wasn't waiting for a sequel to this movie.

Personally, I'd prefer him do original work instead of trying to build a franchise, but that's not how Hollywood works anymore.

Eli Roth is a hack anyways. No one's gonna give a crap about any of these just like no one else seriously gives a crap about the first one. This is solely for that "bad movie lovers" crowd who like these movies "ironically."

Sorry to say but when I saw the first Cabin Fever I immediatly gave it a place amongst one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Why would they ever make anytype of sequel or prequel for that matter is beyond me. Part of the reason I don't like it is because of the disease it potrays, which is an actually disease and is way over embellishes. I should know because someone very close to me died of it. Because of this potrayle of a disease I bared witness to I have a hard time with this film. So that is another reason why it is bad movie to me, But for the most part I can't stand movies that are so cliche with idiot teenagers and over embellished gore, Cabin Fever was horrible, but then again Eli Roth made it, so how good could it really have been?

Whenever I think about Cabin Fever I always wonder how the blonde guy orgasmed in that bizar position in the first film.......just baffles me!

I enjoyed the 1st film, and that for me had the baggage of disliking that it was something showing on the SciFi channel (it could have been lumped in with a ton of made for them crap).  I rented the 2nd film, and was prepared for a departure from the 1st's style and direction.  Now, it seemed more like the made for tv stuff I would expect.  Didn't like it as much.  I give it that it raised my paranoia levels with how it could spread.  I do hold much hope for the further adventures .
