I saw this opening night with my 13 year old tween sister. Seems like all of San Francisco's lil sisters were in attendance, and I know that was the intent of the film.
The young ladies of the night go gaga over the scrumptiously cute vampire Edward Cullen, and wish they were the lucky Bella, whom Eddy desires. He likes her, she likes him, they can't be together, ya-da-da-da...
I wanted to see the film because I was a fan of director Catherine Hardwicke who directed Thirteen. Thirteen is a commendable film that truly represents a side of being a teenager. Twilight on the other hand, is just a whole lotta eye-candy; Even Eddy's skin sparkles when he's in the sun. The chemistry between Edward and Bella wasn't there at all, the story wasn't there at all (and it's even based on Stephanie Meyer's best-selling book!)
This film is part of one big marketing plan. The book's fans were meant to watch the film and likewise, then they go buy the merchandise and products at Hot Topic. Apparently it was a success because the second feature New Moon is in post-production.
One would think with all the money they put into making this film, it would actually be good, unfortunately it's not, but at least many teens wouldn't agree with me.
