Alright everyone I just got back from a preview of the new movie “Twilight” of course this is the movie adaptation of the bestselling novel that has taken many women and some guys (but mostly women) by storm.
Now keep in mind that this review is coming from somebody that has not read the book so go easy because I am looking at this movie from a film prospective.
In the beginning of this movie I could have sworn I walked into a Tim Burton film because everybody was so pale in this film it felt like “Sweeney Todd part 2”. Now this movie tells the story of a girl named Bella and it begins with her moving in with her dad in Washington. Things seem to be going normal until she finds the pale skinned Edward Cullen played by Robert Pattinson (as seen in other films such as the Harry Potter franchise as Cedric Diggory). From then on out the movie progresses on at snails pace and we get to see a bunch of awkward scenes between the two that fans of the novel will love.
Now they find out he is a vampire and the story goes on from there. That is a somewhat snippet of the premise For my review the movie was ok but nothing special unlike the girls in this screening at which whenever Edward did anything on screen and I mean ANYTHING, they would squeal at such a high pitch that dogs four city blocks away began to howl.
I didn’t even read the book and I can tell right off the bat that there was a lot left out of this movie but that’s what happens when you try to cram 512 pages into a two hour movie.
One thing that I had a problem with in this film was whenever the vampires went “Vampire” mode it would be that they looked like the Flash because there would be that clear silhouette of them while they ran and it looked god awful. For the guys out there thinking that when their girlfriends drag them to this film they will be seeing some cool action and special effects you are very wrong. Sorry guys but the most we get here is a snapped neck everything else is off screen, but then again this is not an action movie this is a love story that happens to involve vampires so no “30 Days of Night” here.
My overall rating of this film would be for the fans of the story this is without a doubt a: Full Price
For me this would only come out to be a : Rental
My closing statement for this film is that the movie is not bad it’s just not my cup of tea I like my vampires killing and covered in blood, not falling in love and concerned with the life of human girls, but love makes you do crazy things.
All in all this movie is “The Dark Knight” for chicks so guys you might want to bail out on this one. Maybe sneak your way into Quantum of Solace again.
