If it's crap... We'll tell you

"Trick or Treat! Trick or Treat! Give Me Something Good To Eat!!" Everyone remembers this little melody from their childhood, trick-or-treating days, but if you think "Trick r' Treat" (directed by Michael Dougherty) is anything close to childish, then you better do your research.

This anthological collection of Halloween-esqe elements is pretty dark for a movie whose main cast consists of pretty young children. The movie stars: Dylan Baker, Anna Paquin, Rochelle Aytes, Isabelle Deluce, Leslie Bibb, and a great performance in the last act by Brian Cox.

The movie plays out in four different angles, and comes together really quite neatly in the end, and when its all said and done you really get that, "Ahhh that was cool" emotion.

The movie takes place in small town during Halloween night. The town is pretty boring in the movie, but once Halloween comes around they throw parades, parties, human sacrifices, and pretty much everything that surrounds the holiday. Throughout the movie the main charactes are stalked by a small, creepy child known as "Sam" who wears a very strange costume, and takes his Jack-O-Lantern lollipop to anyone who doesn't follow the Halloween Code.

Dylan Baker plays a psychopathic school principal who, along with his son, do some pretty nasty halloween-tradition things, but on an entirely jacked up level.

Anna Paquin plays a young girl looking for just the right guy who will make her first time special, and to impress her sister and friends at the same time. however there's more than meets the eye with her as the night goes on :D

Britt Mckillip (who plays Macy in the film) leads her friends to an abandoned rock quarry to investigate a terrifying rumor that's loomed over the town for decades.

And Brian Cox plays a elderly man who comes in contact with Sam first hand and fights for his life as the Halloween vigilante punishes him for not following the rules of the holiday.

All in all it connects really, really well, and the performances are pretty great all around. Its a MIUST SEE Halloween movie in my book, and anyone who wants an original horror film, definitely needs to see this.

9.3/10
