Arsène Lupin the Third posted a statusAs I am a human being with eyes and a fully functioning brain, it should come as no surprise that I adore Steven Spielberg's 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.' But if there is one thing I love just as much as great movies, it's great movie commentaries. The frustrating thing about Spielberg is that he doesn't really do commentaries for his films. Luckily, "filmumentary" filmmaker Jamie Benning (who created the term) has constructed something even better. In his latest filmumentary, he compiles behind-the-scenes footage and sews them into the film itself all underscored by audio from interviews with those involved in the production. It's a remarkable combination of special features into one thoroughly engrossing cinephile experience. Check out this bountiful trailer for 'Raiding The Lost Ark.'

Comment by Mr. E on November 17, 2011 at 5:00pm Ha ha. I would expect nothing but perfection in regards to Star Wars info from you Poopa, and I bow to your greater wisdom on the subject, but for the rest of who aren't quite as die hard, these are a fun watch, and free to boot. :-)
Comment by PoopaPapaPalpatine on November 17, 2011 at 4:54pm Don't bother with the STAR WARS one if you've already seen the Empire of Dreams documentary (which is pretty incomplete itself). It's pretty much just that spliced together with tidbits about the movie(s) commonly found on IMDB. A good 90% of the stuff in the video posted below this comment is common knowledge (amongst actual enthusiasts, anyway).
If you really want to know all you can about the filmaking processes behind the making of the original movies, grab the recent "The Making Of..." books that have come out recently. They're very comprehensive.
If you want to know the history of the franchise, from the inception to the monster cash cow that it became, I recommend The Secret History of Star Wars. Almost everything else is just rubbish.
Comment by Mr. E on November 17, 2011 at 4:44pm Yup, like Snafu said, he did this for the Original Trilogy Star Wars films as well. Really fun if you have the time.
