You know how it goes, your home with your girlfriend and she says, " I want to see a movie". And your first thought is "Shit!!!!!!", since you know you are going to have to go through a tormenting experience where the innocent girl from somewhere, finds a 'sexy' rogue man who at first she doesn't like, but then something happens that leads to her falling happily in love with the rogue.

And as all men know this is not what we want from movies. We want action, suspense, drama and its always nice sometimes to have a bit of pointless violence. But, as all guys know when your girl wants to see a Chick flick, there is nothing you can do about it, unless you like not getting laid.

So, I am going to provide you with some Chick Flick recommendations, so that the next time your girl says, "Lets watch a movie" you will actually enjoy the film you put on because of the film actually being good, rather than just struggling through a predictable, nauseating love story, just to keep your girl happy.

When Harry met Sally, is a great romantic comedy with a fantastic chemistry between Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. The story revolves around the characters Harry (Crystal) and Sally (Ryan), who bump into each other randomly and steadily fall in love. This film is funny, thoughtful and a classic and would definitely be good on any night in with the girlfriend.

Some like it hot is a film where Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are two musicians who witness a gangster massacre and get out of the city by disguising themselves as female musicians and join a female touring band. When they join the band they meet Marilyn Monroe, and you can guess what happens. Even though this film is slightly predictable, you have to remember this is the original chick flick, so everything since then is based on this. A real 100% classic!

The Devil wears Prada is one of very few decent modern chick flicks that have come out in the last 10 years. Meryl Streep is absolutely fantastic as the ruthless fashion goddess, who takes on Anne Hathaway as her assistant. As a result of this Hathaway becomes caught up in the world of fashion, which results in her pushing away everyone close to her. This is a standard chick flick, but unlike most, has genuine depth to the story.

It happened one night is the ultimate Romantic comedy, that won 5 Oscars back in 1935. Clark Gable is a down and out reporter who luckily bumps into a runaway Heiress, played by Claudette Colbert, on a bus heading to New York. Gable then sees the opportunity to get his job back. So, Gable says that he will help and as the journey goes one the two fall in love with each other. A fantastic film, directed by the legend that is Frank Capra.

The Best and Saddest chick flick I have ever seen. This story follows the love story of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. I don't want to reveal too much, but this film is unlike any chick flick that you will ever see, with a ending that is completely unique to this film, and is a very brave chick flick that is not only a fantastic love story, but also a fantastic film.
