Thornton Joins 'Faster'

Variety reports that actor Billy Bob Thornton will star opposite Dwayne Johnson in the George Tillman Jr. directed action drama Faster.
Thornton plays Cop, a veteran policeman who trails Driver (Johnson), an ex-con racing to avenge his brother's murder. Also in the mix is Killer, an egocentric hitman who's after Driver. That role hasn't been cast yet.
The picture is a co-production of CBS Films and Sony Worldwide Acquisitions Group. Joe and Tony Gayton wrote the script.
Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer are producing with Tony Gayton and Robert Teitel.

- Whoa...wait a minute...the Rock starring in an action movie? About freaking time! I was getting sick of his cutesy kiddie flicks. There's plenty of time in his career to go all Disney, but for right now, lets see him fill out some action hero roles.
