The Music Room #12: Jimmy Fallon: Blow Your Pants Off

And now, to wrap up The Music Room Week, we look at the new album, Jimmy Fallon: Blow Your Pants Off.

When it comes to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, it's a decently entertaining show. After starting off slow in 2009, the series has really picked up and has some pretty good moments. Granted, it's nowhere near what David Letterman and Conan O'Brien did, but then again, those are tough acts to follow.

This is Fallon's first comedy album in 10 years since 2002's The Bathroom Wall, which got nominated for a Grammy award that year as well despite mixed to negative reviews. I never listened to that album so I can't tell from experience.

This album is mostly recordings from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, so this could also be techincally considered a soundtrack to the series as well.

And to be 100% honest, I really liked this album. Fallon's comedic abilites have improved a lot over the last decade especially his impersonations, he nails Neil Young on the first and last songs of the album when he does Young singing both the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air theme and Whip My Hair, with Bruce Springsteen joining in on the latter. Although, Bob Dylan and the Doors still need a bit of work.

You also have a pretty damn good version of Yesterday titled Scrambled Eggs which features Paul McCartney as well as Slow Jam The News with Brian Williams, proving once again why he's easily the best news anchor we have on network TV because he's not afraid to show his comedic side in addition to being one of the most respected news anchors on television right now.

And the biggest surprise of all, a good version of that shitty Rebecca Black song, Friday. Yes, you heard me right, folks, there exists a good version of Friday. Hard to believe, I know, but once you add in Stephen Colbert to sing it alongside Fallon, it just works perfectly well.

The rest of the songs range from good to meh but Blow Your Pants Off has more good songs than warrant a purchase on CD or on ITunes, if you're a big fan of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, this is definitely worth your time.

OWN IT!!!
