More dumb Japanese games Please...

Comment by Alpha2 on March 3, 2012 at 9:33pm

The Japanese PSN demo of this had a LOT more content. There were 3 tutorial levels and at least 2 missions where the US demo only had the one boss battle mission.

After playing it I was surprised how sharp and well tuned this game is. I expected a no name title from Sega to be just a 30 dollar bargain bin title and even as a game made by the Yakuza team I figured it'd be as slow as it but it's much more nimble. The English in the game is well acted too, as opposed to the stuff that's sometimes badly acted or even when well performed it's occasionally awkwardly delivered or badly written. Big Bo, while somewhat stereotypical is a lot more realistic than Coaltrain. The conversations in the game feel much more natural and have a level of chemistry, which is a key component of the game since your team mates react better the more they trust or like you. As seen in the video if you shoot them in the back or argue with them they're less likely to follow your orders which I think is a nice wrinkle to the standard 3rd person shooter.

Looks like something I'd get from GameStop if I cant find what I'm looking for. Just a last resort.

This would be awesome if it was co-op though.

It looks like if Mass Effect fucked Gears of War while glancing eye contact was made at System Shock.

Everything Jeff mentioned about inventory systems & progression trees are the exact reason why I love the Yakuza series so much.

Also Why you gotta knock Big Bo yo?
