THE LEAGUE OF EXTREMELY ORDINARY GENTLEMEN: Volume 9, Issue 4: Movie Year in Review pt 1

If only you knew how crazy things were around here for the LEOG. And I just mean outside of our usual inebriated revelry. Which is pretty much why we gave most of the team the week off. Except Brian, of course, who's still being hazed (and will continue to be until I decree it no longer so).

But, never fear, content is here, as we bring in the head of the Austin Film Critic's Association and creator of Austin movie blog par excellence, Slackerwood, Jette Kernion, and our old friend from the Remote Viewing Xmas special (and, of course, Film School Rejects), Adam Charles, to start discussing some of the year's best (or at least, most talked about) movies.

I thought it was a great year for film, but Django Unchained easily came out on top for me. I think it's Tarantino's best film since Jackie Brown, and an improvement over Inglourious Basterds (in terms of narrative and focus). I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Cloud Atlas; I was also surprised by how much I DIDN'T enjoy The Dark Knight Rises :-(

MY list:

1) Django UNchained

2) Zero Dark THirty

3) Cloud Atlas

4) Argo

5) Skyfall

6) Moonrise Kingdom

7) LIncoln

8) Life of Pi

9) The Avengers

10) The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Wow! I LOVE this girl! Someone ELSE who actually recognizes that "The Avengers" was NOT all that and that Joss Whedon is no "Genius"! "The Avengers" could have been a total piece of crap (...which, at least to me, it wasn't far from) and directed by TWO Joss Whedon's and fanboys would have ate it up and adored it all the same.

I never look at best of... lists as a challenge but more or less a recommendation. :)

That Looper talk cut me deep... I loooved how Levitt looked in the film, not to mention his acting. One of the top films of the year for me.

Skyfall was amazing.

Once again, Brain has continually been my own personal voice in the group. I agree with just about every opinion he has stated of this years films.

I think it's pretty funny you guys are giving Kevin Smith shit, because recently I've been listening to some of his podcasts. His movies never watch em, but on his podcasts he seems like a pretty cool and down to earth guy.

Hey can somebody help me find the Leog episode where it was either Grant or Peter who were talking about the Mcrib? I can't pinpoint which episode it was.
