THE LEAGUE OF EXTREMELY ORDINARY GENTLEMEN: Vol 9, Issue 10: Best Films of 2012 Pt 2

Okay, so it took us awhile to get to the second part of this discussion, but now it's here and with the LEOG proper weighing in on their own picks of some of the best films of the year. And, how about the return of Joe Parsons, with some tales told out of school about hanging out with the inventor of Movie Riffing himself, Joel Hodgson? Much fun is had. So, you know, you should, like, listen, and tell your friends and stuff. Geez.

Any chance we'll get to hear that fiasco session?

OK. This has to end here! Right now.

The last twilight movie,,,,, was bad !

Im sorry, but its not that OK of a movie that you guys says it is. It was bad, and i laughed my ass of when the super bad gay vapire made his gay villain laugh. And a guy in the theater got so pissed that i laughed xP

but seriousley. its bad, its not a ok movie. Its still lazy film making. And the score in the movie is ridicules. I mean the pacing of the score was just stupid. LOUD AND DRAMATIC, slow and romantic, LOUD AND DRAMATIC, slow and romantic.

I mean hans zimmer is a guy who does this well, but the fucking score was just bad. I think there is 3 minutes without score or soundtrack. My ears just got so sick of watching that movie. And whats up with the opening titles random white and red colors :P   WTF :P

And the whole ending like: OOOOOh we are gonna kill these characters that you love, but now we dont have the balls to do that because then the fans will be angry, so its just a prediction of the future :P

Fuck this movie, Thank you

Det-Yeah, for some reason I always get Drake confused with Tim Buckley and I further conflated the issue by transposing Tim's son Jeff's method of demise.

I gotta lot of stuff rolling around in here, what can I say.

129:00 - Wow, that might explain why I couldn't get through the Hobbit (book) and have no interest in the movie.

Just to finish up with some bullet points on a few nominated films:

Loved Zero Dark Thirty. Jessica Chastain is not a CIA agent but an analyst. This is the Jack Ryan role. The Russell Crowe role in Body of Evidence. It's playing hunches on the most dangerous level. I really appreciated how bizarre the position and perspective their job entails.

I enjoyed Silver Linings Playbook. I just didn't love it. In the scene where the father goes off on his son after the fight at the sporting event, that's when the Hindi therapist could have had more meat in terms of understanding the family dynamic and could have stepped up validating the importance of the relationship between Lawrence and Cooper. That's still not as critical as the whole line, "I fell in love with you from the start..." That didn't sell with me especially with how desperate he was being non-compliant with his meds...even if I was convinced he could beat his trigger by accepting a LIE over a week old.

That said, let's forgive every thing I just said....we get written letters read to the audience aloud but we can't hear what Cooper and his soon to be ex-wife say to each other. That would have humanized her rather than just being an object.

So then, we go with the Hollywood ending, Cooper and Lawrence make a good looking couple and all is right with the world watching football. Eli from Boardwalk Empire was un-necessary.

The lost talent was Jackie Weaver (Animal Kingdom) her role in limited action dealing with the alpha males.

@ Gothka

I am a fan of Rifftrax as well. I saw their Plan 9 show last year and it was great. To answer your question, the reason we don't do live streaming is that we (regrettably) are not as big as Rifftrax or Cinematic Titanic. Yet. They have a pedigree and a fan base that allows them to essentially book dozens of theaters all across the country at once, and while this is a goal of ours, we are not quite there yet. We are successful in Austin and we tour the country on occasion, but live streaming is a couple years away for us.

Where do you live? California is a little tricky because movie theaters there have some very different rules for movie mocking than the ones elsewhere. However, we love a challenge and we would love the opportunity to come to a town where there is an existing interest in our show. Fingers crossed for LA, San Diego, or San Francisco.

There are still two Twilight movies we haven't done yet. Just sayin'...
