I remember this special issue of Green Lantern with Hal Jordan and John Stewart and it was about apartheid. Hal and John had a disagreement in the issue (several), but what relates to Kal's statement about Superman not being a jerk, Hal comes home to find Superman already his apartment, sitting in his chair. Superman scolded Hal about how he handled a certain situation and Hal was livid. Hal was understandable upset : not only does Superman have the nerve tell Hal what to do, but he basically broke in the guys house. If that isn't one of the MANY Superman asshole moments in past comic continuity, I don't know what is.

Usually I find myself in staunch disagreement with Peter... but I'm with him on this one. Superman acts like a jerk, undeservingly so, in Action Comics #1.

 

When he says we're not in the Golden Age anymore, he doesn't literally mean that we're not in that time period anymore - he means that Superman has evolved away from that. Guess what - back then, Batman carried a gun and murdered his enemies. I don't recall him doing that in modern comics set at the beginning of HIS career. For that matter, how many re-tellings of Superman's origin have we had in the past decade alone? Superman doesn't act like a bully in them, and they're telling the same story during the same point in Superman's career - the beginning.

I enjoyed Batwing. I'll give it a chance. I know it's a white guy writing a black character, but the white guys on this podcast "get's it", this guy might be able to pull it off.

I loved both Animal Man and Swamp thing. And there is noooo way Lucas isn't planning on releasing the original theatrical versions of the Star Wars films. THere is too much money in it. But I think he will wait several years before he does that. He'll probably do that after people stop buying his rereleases.

yeah molson, labatt, and moosehead are meh beers in my book, but there are some small local breweries that are awesome :)
