You're so right Beau, no Flash Gordon adaptation before and after ever came close to the epicness of the Filmation adaptation.

The Transformers close up shots seemed to me that the studio was trying to keep budget low by animating up close and therefore rendering less.

It was kind of like they said "Hey! It's there! Just not there"

That just kind of gave me the impression they were trying to do more with the money they didn't have left.

That being said 150 million is nothing to sneeze at.

B. Bailey you are absolutely right on the money RE: Filmation's Flash Gordon. Not only was it one of the best things the studio ever produced it was, hands down, the best adaptation of Flash Gordon ever made. Thanks for reminding me.
Leon Comment by Leon on March 27, 2009 at 9:35pm
Um, I'm not looking to "keep this going" but I for one HATED the effects in Transformers. They cheated on the transformations and it just looked like random bits of metal flying around. No engineering design whatsoever.

And whenever two robots fought it was such a mess I couldn't tell who was who or what was what.

I can't believe you guys didn't mentioned Filmation's adaptation Flash Gordon, it was one of the studio's best work especially the feature length pilot:

You cold heartless basterd.I am baffled at the fact you are taking it this far.Because any other given day in the week, no matter a fact any other given day of the year. I would be the bigger person and end this, but before I do that I just want to know do you want to keep this going. Because if so, I will go La menthe on your sorry ass and we can keep this going till Judgment day, trumpets sound, and Cylons start knocking down our doors!
Or we can agree to dissagree.

I think that's the very issue I saw Miley, thanks. And I'm dreadfully sorry you don't appreciate Patton-he's the best thing happening in stand up for my money.

You're too lazy to hit a shift key once in a while? Jesus Christ, that's pathetic. I hope you have somebody come by to water you occasionally and turn you towards the sun every now and then.

It's original because it had very good special effect and "they tried"??? Well, I stand baffled at your engaging argument. Dumbfounded really.

And yeah, I'd love to put a bullet in Michael Bay's head-for any variety of reasons.

I have a Justice League GN by Patton where an everyday Joe is hiding on the Watchtower and just watching the everyday lives of the members which was really good. I don't think he's a good standup, but he can really write.
