For the last few days, a rumor has been floating around that 'The Expendables 2' would be downgrading from the R-rating of the first film to a softer PG-13. Furthermore, the cause of this change in rating was rumored to be a stipulation of Chuck Norris' contract. The notoriously conservative Norris revealed in an interview with a Polish website, of all places, that he had a problem with the harsh language of the first 'Expendables' that would keep young people from being able to see it, so he wouldn't do a movie like that. He told them they had to take out all the harsh language and that they did, resulting in a PG-13 rating. Of course the internet ran away with this, blasting the film for buckling to Norris' demands, but it was still unconfirmed. Well now, thanks to a message Stallone himself sent to AICN's Harry Knowles, at least a portion of this rumor has been confirmed. Here's what he said...
"The PG13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry...Sly"
So yes, it is confirmed that 'The Expendables 2' will be PG-13, but how much of that decision was really based on Norris' proclivities is still dubious. This downgrade in rating seems to be leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans, and I totally understand that. But honestly, the best moments of 'The Expendables,' the few great moments to be found, were not things that couldn't be recreated in a PG-13 film. Dial back on the CG blood, which is a nuisance anyway, and there's very little beyond the profanity that would have even earned it an R. Besides, let's consider the era in which many of these stars earned their popularity. This was a time when even PG movies packed a pretty serious punch, and the rating has only gotten more lenient with the advent of PG-13. Ultimately, I don't really care what the rating is as long as they fix the woeful story problems of the first film.
What do you guys think? Are you put off by this new rating?

Comment by jason franklin on January 23, 2012 at 7:49pm i didn't like the first one.you would figure that with all these action star that the film would be awesome but it wasn't.the story sucked and the dialogue was even worse even for type of movie.i think if it had been done 20 years ago this movie would had done even better when these guy were in there prime.it also didn't bring anything new to the genre .i don't care if its pg-13 or rated -r its not going to make it any better or make a differents.don't get me wrong i like action movies but these are over blown and without any real heart.the biggest problem with these movie is jason statham every time his on film he saying to the audience 'hey i jason statham please suck my dick' and he isn't just talking to the women either.even Arnold shows more emotions than jason statham . guys yall need to set your sights a little bit higher when it comes your man crushes.

Comment by Joseph Trochez on January 23, 2012 at 12:45pm I hope they will have an unrated blu-ray version at least.

Sorry, not interested anymore. Why would they do that?
Comment by Plikis on January 21, 2012 at 1:28pm Okay, so there's gonna be practically no cussing and no mindless violence. Instantly lost all hype.
Comment by Bradford on January 21, 2012 at 11:47am I really don't understand this. This is the kind of film that can't take itself too seriously, and part of that should be some crazy dialogue. A PG-13 rating only allows one variation of the word "fuck" and that just makes me sad.
Comment by Mikeynike on January 21, 2012 at 10:52am the first was a dumb movie with kick ass violence. so now this one will just be dumb movie
